Replacing a clip without changing any track parameter

Is it possible to switch a clip with another one without deleting the track properties, such as automation ?

I'd like to hear a 88.2k project on a 96k only audio interface, Cakewalk complains, so I should import all the stems again. But, I don't want to loose automation and other track parameters.

AFAIK the only way is to "trick" Sonar by replacing the clip behind it's back.

    1. right click the clip and select Associated Data Files.
    2. take not of the data file name.
    3. close Sonar.
    4. navigate to the folder containing the data file noted earlier.
    5. rename it to something.
    6. rename you replacement clip to the exact same name as the original file.
    7. restart Sonar.
