A bit before the Tim Burton movie came out and "redeemed" Batman, I'd found a Batman t-shirt - the real thing with the bright yellow bat sign - and everywhere I went, people were pointing finger, laughing and singing the tv series theme song. But personally, I loved that show and never tried to hide it, no matter how ridicule people thought it was.
 
Of course, first day of school the following year, everyone was wearing Batman t-shirts - the new ones with the golden bat sign. The Tim Burton movie had had its effect... 
 
I was delighted when they finally released the show on DVD a few years ago, and it's been on my wishlist ever since. In the meantime, I've been watching the movie at least once a year for the last decade or so.

RIP Mr. West. I watched him all the time as a kid. He will always be the only Batman, as far as I'm concerned. It's sad that he's gone, but 88 is a pretty good run.

Indeed. 
 
It surprised me nonetheless because his Facebook page (which I followed) was updated regularly until fairly recently (around the end of April I think) and he seemed like an active, healthy 88 year old. Which would seem to confirm that his was indeed a brief fight with leukaemia.
