I just upgraded from X3 to Platinum and I'm not seeing Adaptive Limiter when I click on "add module" in the Pro Channel.
I'm also not seeing some of my 3rd party modules...how can I add them to this drop down and remove the ones I never use?

Thanks,
R

The Adapter Limiter is a Vst3 plugin, so it will be found under Vst3 fx, and not Pro Channel fx.
All the best.

Hmm, well how can I add it to track...it appears you can't right click a track to add fx any more?

Use the FX bin + sign to add an effect. that's been that way for as long as I can remember.

Right-click in the FX rack should display the plug-in menu. I believe lenses default to None; check your track control setting

"...that's been that way for as long as I can remember."

I don't doubt that I've just always right clicked the track.
At the risk of being a PITA, is Adaptive Limiter listed as that name?
If so, I'm still not seeing it.

Thanks for your patience,

Sorry Steve, I just saw your post.
I'm still not seeing AL...I'm guessing it should be in the uncategorized drop down right?

Thanks again,

Re: Adaptive Limiter - What's everybody think of it? 2017/06/23 22:43:34 (permalink)
No, if it was installed (it is in the Engineering FX Suite installer) it will be in the Dynamics category. Most VST3 plug-ins have category tags. VST2 and DX plug-ins do not support category tags. Cakewalk populated the database with category data for some VST2 and DX plug-ins. The VST2 and DX plug-ins not added by Cakewalk and the few VST3 plug-ins that manufactures failed to add tags for show up as uncategorized.

Just like X3 the new SONAR has a search option in the Browser for plug-ins.

I guess it wasn't installed then all I see under Dynamics is CA-2A and LP-MB.
When you say "it is in the Engineering FX Suite installer" I'm guessing you mean in CCC but I'm not seeing that...only Boutique FX suite...is it in there?
Thanks again,
R

Engineer FX Suite.
from http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Whats-New#2017.05

The Adaptive Limiter is a professional look-ahead brickwall peak limiter that is designed for both mixing and mastering now available in the Engineering Suite.

OK, let me really try your patience:
I don't understand, that link takes me to the "what's new" page.
Is it a separate installation or is it in Sonar 2017.05?

Thanks again,

Should be a separate installer in the SONAR Platinum group. Here is an image I made some time ago for a thread about the Boutique FX Suite that shows installers under SONAR Platinum in the installed state

If you do not see the Engineering FX Suite in the Command Center contact support. If you see a red indicator instead of a green one, the package has not been installed.

Sonar is up to date and engineering suite is up to date but I cannot find the Adaptive Limiter! Any ideas?

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.

This plug in seems to (at least) sometimes generates unintended fade in?
One of my project strangely fades in the first note of song when mixed down, I tried anything I can think of, and I noticed this issue happens when signals pass Master Bus.
Then I replaced Adaptive Limiter on Master Bus, all turned well.
I didn't test what settings cause this problem, but I don't use what does like this unless it fixed.

Lynn
I've used AL both for mastering and mixing and here are my results.

For mastering, this is maybe the best limiter I have.  It works as advertised with as much or as little transparency as you want.  However, for mixing a different story.  I set the look ahead to minimum and inserted it on two tracks in a  song with two acoustic instruments and one instance of Rapture Pro and one instance of Z3ta +2.  The latency on my converter was set to 256 samples which typically is more than enough for 4 tracks, but I got dropouts galore, and my CPU meters were jumping all over the place.  I replace AL with Waves L1 Ultramaximizer and the problems disappeared.  I repeated this procedure several time with the same results.

For now, I'll stick to using it for mastering, and I'll wait to see if any changes are made to it before using it in mixing.

I agree 100% I am preferring it over Slate FGX on my master bus. So far I am loving the Adaptive Limiter in Sonar!

I used it last night to add a bit loudness to an old project. I find myself reaching analogue bus compression before any limiting these days. By analogue I mean virtual although given the opporchancity I would do it through a console.

I have computer stuff.

I've tried it - looked very promising. Each time I get maybe half way through a tune and start getting pops/audio artifacts.
Replacing AL with the BT BrickWall limiter and the artifacts vanish.  I have a friend who had a similar experience.
Any idea what might be causing the artifacts?

Too small an audio interface buffer setting.
