Sonar Professional Console Gain Knobs have no effect

Gain staging on Frozen synths.  They just don't work, any idea what's up?  A setting somewhere?

Sonar Professinal, Win 10 64x, HP Pavillion P-7 1240 with 10 GB Ram, Presonus AudioBox itwo  Equator D5 Monitors

    The gain knob on an instrument track controls MIDI velocity. Once an instrument track is frozen changing MIDI velocity has no effect.

    Interesting.  I've never used the gain knob on anything other than an audio track.

    Makes sense never thought about that.  So I will need to bounce to an audio track.

    Could split the instrument track either before of after freeze to get to the audio track that makes up part of the instrument track (including the audio gain control).
