12/8 Signature Drum beat how to quantize ? Helppppp

Hi all, I have this Drum pattern I have been playing around within Sonar Platinum with the XLN Addictive Drums 2
it is almost Identical to the song Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears For Fears, I have been trying for hours to quantize this beat but nothing seems to work for me I have come very close but its still slightly off.

I made a video of the beat and the problem i am having how can I post a link of it here in this forum?
or if I can send the link of the video I posted it on YouTube to a personal message PM please let me know

thanks guys

Louie

Have you set the time signature in Sonar to 12/8?  If so, quantising to quavers should work, if it is like Everybody Wants To Rule The World.

If it's set to 4/4, then try triplet quavers.

The thing about "Everybody..", IIRC, is that the hi hat (or whatever it is) accents alternate quavers (starting on the second) giving it a duple feel over the triple feel of a compound time signature.

HTH.  PM me if I can be of any assistance.

That's a triplet 1/8 pattern. From your video I could see your meter was set to 4/4. How the meter is set Does affect how Sonar handle quantizing. Set to 4/4, you need to quantize 1/8 note Triplets. (If your meter was set to 12/8, you would quantize to 1/8 note. The Kick, Snare and Hats ALL are notes that line up with the 8th note triplet Grid so all together they quantize perfectly with 8th note triplets. Separately you could quantize the Hi hats to 8th note triplet, Snare to 1/4 note, and Kick to 8th note triplet OR 8th note with swing set to 66%. You also may need to nudge a lil to the right if you're playing is ahead of the beat or set the Offset slightly earlier in the quantize section if you want it in time but slightly ahead or on top of the beat.

I would open this up in Piano roll view and focus on the kick drums.
In cases like this song its not the measure/beat, its the swing value on the kick drum. (and the kick only)
And in this song the kick has swing on it. High light the offending kicks and drag them with snap turned off.

Or copy paste the kicks from the first measure that seems to be dead nuts.
Just make sure beat 1 is right on the money. For what its worth I haven't had stellar results using quantize on swing kicks.
I know its possible and I know some will be able to dial it in better than I but this is the process I use for swinging kicks.
Very reminiscent of country music kick drum beats.

Thank you both
I was able to get it down by using a 4/4 time and the piano roll and qantizing in 1/8 triplets
but I am having a problem copying the first four bars of the drum kick which are in perfect timing, I click edit , copy and then Paste for my next 4 bars but its not showing up, weird I am sure I am missing something but thanks to you guys I was able to get this far :)

thank you
