2017.5 Recording Take Lane Selection Issue?

OK... I didn't see this one coming. I so rarely use the Lane mute botton I had not seen this though it may have been with us since this new option was put into play...

Please note that I love the new paradigm of using available lanes prior to creating new ones, but I just discovered that when I record with muted Lanes, the new recording will populate the muted lane first if space is available....

This kind of puts a damper on it..... Luckily for me, I can easily go back to clip muting and continue to ignore the lane mute button until this is worked out...

Think this needs a"real" problem report?

I don't think so. it's fine the way it is. the other way around would be inconsistent and soon reported as "bug"

FWIW it's up to you to mute lanes or not. during tracking there is no point of doing so as Sonar automatically mutes all previous takes anyway ...

I dont see it that way.

The auto muting only happens in comp mode which doesnt work for my needs.

Recording to a muted lane is very counter-intuitive...

Comping mode by default doesn't mute take lanes, it mutes the clips of previous takes.
I would wait to flatten a comp until you are through all the sections of a tune.  That is the only comping related gesture that mutes the take lanes that made up the comp and adds a new one for the flattened one.

If you need to record after that, just add a new take lane and arm that?

Otherwise if you've manually muted a take lane, this is no different than recording to a muted track.

    Thanks Keith...

I understand, but it somehow feels "wrong"...

I don't use comp mode at all really and I don't flatten my comps preferring to manually do what I wish. So I never run into comp mode issues per se....

I can really hope that one day my issues with the track's display area (diffrentiation from lanes) and the progressing "what to display, when" issues (which prompted me to use the lane mute to begin with) will change for the better?
    ;-)

I never really use lane mute but I wanted to hide the already muted clips from the track display.... Simple enough for me to disregard this until I finish mywork on that track and mute the lanes afterwards to remove the not wanted display info...

    Thanks...
