Installing SONAR Home Studio to a New Computer

Hello all,

I did a search on the forum, and I'm surprised no one's ran into this yet, but I'm trying to move all my SONAR stuff to a new computer. However, whenever I try to install it on the new one via Command Center, something goes wrong mid-download, something along the lines of, "An error has occurred. Contact Support", after about 0.06% of downloading. Is there a particular thing I have to do?

It could be something is conflicting with Command Center, so I suggest closing everything else or even performing a clean boot.

You should also be able to download Home Studio directly from your Cakewalk account.

Sometimes the problem can be a corrupt download.  Download Command Center again using a download manager (I'm on Firefox, and use the free DownThemAll extension).  Since I started making a habit of using the download manager, I never suffer from corrupt downloads anymore.

SonarPlat/CWbBL, Win 10 Pro, i7 2600K, Asus P8Z68 Deluxe, 16GB DDR3, Radeon HD5450, TC Electronic Impact Twin, Kawai MP11 Piano, Event ALP Monitors, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, Too Many Plugins, My lucky hat.

I thank you all for the immediate responses. It seems that telecharge's suggestion worked; I restarted and it seems to download fine now. It's taking, like, three days, but it's still going steady.

You do realise that you only need to download once.
If your old computer had Home Studio and all the add ons, those would all be still in the Command center download file. All you need to do is copy the contents of that folder to the new computer same location and then run CCC. It will use those files to install the software and extras without re downloading.

The command center downloads are found in C/Program Data/Cakewalk/Command center/ downloads

What a lot of us do is after we have set Sonar up with everything we copy the CCC download file to a back up drive and delete the originals contents to save disk space, especially handy if you have a smaller C drive.

I REALLY wish you had seen this post sooner...just...really.

Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to do that next time I have to move stuff.
