X3 plugin won't allow project to open

So I go to open a project and the plugin, Softube Trident A-Range, says it's corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.

Because of a problem with a single plugin, I can't open the project? I think that's outrageous, and not in a good way.

Furthermore, I just had this problem a couple months (?) ago and installed the new Ilok device manager. That fixed the problem.

The thing I don't understand is that this plugin works in other projects, just not this one.

I'm downloading a troubleshooting tool from ilok -- no idea what it is or whether it will work.

Meanwhile, I can't even open several versions of this project going back to January.

Try safe mode and skip loading the plug-in. Hold the SHIFT key while opening the project to invoke safe mode.

The ilok diagnostic tool fixed it.

I'm less than pleased to have to jump through hoops for an hour just to open a project (because of course, I had to do a fruitless search). It's like having to do research to turn on a light.

Meanwhile, there is no copy protection for what I do

This is the sole purpose "safe mode" was intended for.
glad you fixed your issue but if you have the problem again just use safe mode.

Glad you were able to correct the plugin's problem, or Ilok's problem.

As noted above, Sonar DOES provide the means by which you can bypass any number of failing plugins, by launching a troubled project in Sonar's "Safe Mode".

Can you please elaborate on your comment about 'copy protection'?  I am not understanding what you were referring to.

Ilok is copy protection. Creative artists don't have anything like that. Now I can't use a newly purchased plugins bundle because it isn't enough to have to deal with the plugins firm (Slate) and Ilok, there's a fourth party, Gobbler. The link from Slate to Gobbler is broken and I can't open an account at Gobbler because it says my email is already in use and it doesn't accept my Ilok PW and won't email me my PW.

This is all about copy protection and nothing else. And the headache is entirely on my end.

On what planet can you imagine a music consumer going through all of that to get to the end product, the music?
They'd be off to a piracy site or piracy lite, AKA youtube or spotify in a heartbeat. Just sayin'

I'll keep the safe mode idea in mind for future issues. Thanks for the advice.

    Cheers,
     Jon
