A quick search shows the same thing on many forums Steve. I stopped using PB a few years back because of all the ads and pop-ups. Tried to check their terms & conditions but was immediately bombarded with ads..and pop-ups...

AdBlock Plus gets rid of most of that crap mate, but all the same I've been meaning to use something else for a while too. I guess this make the decision a lot easier.

It's just a shame that somewhere in these hallowed pages, an image of Adrian Chiles with a p***s on his foreh**d has just evaporated forever

Imgur has always been and always will be the most quick and easy way to host photos. I mean you just drag the photo onto the page and it gives you all of your share links, including the img tags to paste into this forum. Have no idea what the advantage to using Photobucket is anyway.

I have some of my own websites.  I just don't put any links on the home page and use subpages to host my own images.  MUCH cheaper than that joke of almost $400 Photobucket wants to soak you with!

I'm guessing the original founders of photobucket sold it to some clueless investor with dreams of becoming an internet billionaire.

I am reminded of the time Unisys decided to sell licenses for the GIF format for $5,000 and sue anyone who used GIFs without paying. Some junior executive with a calculator no doubt thought he'd be up for a big bonus. Instead, he transformed a once widely-adopted standard into a historical footnote.

These days I use QTRLQ.org for posting images. It's a simplified front end to Imgur.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

As Bit said, also the 3rd party linking/hosting brought tons of traffic to their servers which costs lots-o-money. yea I mean it started out free but little did the founder realize what it would grow to..

meh people will abandon it quickly and find other sites to host third party

in a related note (cause I read about it on reddit) EuroShare shut down (another image sharing site with more naughty bits)

Yeah, likewise.

I've been using Imgur for a couple of years and it reminds me of how PB used to be before the adverts

Thank you for that Dave.  qtylq looks good, if I can remember it's name!

photobucket has become a cesspool.  I've continued to use it but become annoyed with it every time I do.  some of the ads lock up the browser.
