Having problems with plug-ins.

Just recently purchased 3 plug-ins from Waves.
After installing them on my computer, they appears on my C drive as follows; Programs files (x86), Waves, Plug-ins V9.
When I open Sonar X3 I cannot locate these plug-ins in either VTS or VTS3.
When I go to the Manage Plug-ins menu, they are not there either.
What did I do wrong?
What can  I do to correct the situation?

Thank you for any help. When it comes to this type of operation, I am quite a novice.

Regards

Gerry

The plugin files are actually installed in a cache in C:/Users/Your user name/ appdata/ local/Waves audio.

The files that are important for Sonar to find are the Waveshell*.dll files which will be in the Program Files/Common Files/VST3
And whatever your default VST 2 plugins folder is.

It's those folders that Sonar needs to scan. In fact if you're making use of VST3 plugins (which you should) then the only path Sonar needs is to the VST3 folder which it should already have as there are some VST3 logins already included with Sonar.

I'm having the same problem with my Dimension Pro plugin and although I pointed to it's dll directory from Sonar's Plugin manager Sonar doesn't see it! I'm using Sonar Professional 2016 64 bit version.

You should start another thread as it gets a little confusing trying to solve 2 problems on 1 thread.
But for what its worth, your plug in manager should already be pointed in that direction (its sonars default path)
Which is: C\Program files\Cakewalk\VST Plug ins.

You should also look at the insert FX plug ins menu as there are a few different modes to insert plug ins (Vendor, Type, Category, exc)

Did you transfer the Waves licence to your computer? It could be still in your Waves Licence Cloud.

    Launch Waves Central >Manage Licences
Find your licence in the list and then move it to your computer.

    Thank you for the info.
As the softwares appear on my computer in the following fashion:
    C drive
         Program files (x86)
                 Waves
                        Plug-ins V9
                               RBass. bundle

I am therefore presuming that they are properly installed on my computer.
When I try to locate them via Manage Plug-ins, I cannot locate them. They do not show.
     ??????

    Thank you

Also, I have just contacted Waves and have been advised that one of the software I purchased ....SSL E channel....is not supported by Sonar X3.
In their words, and I quote '' please note that Sonar X3 is not officially supported with Waves 9 ''.

Could this be the reason I am having issues?

    Thank you

Its supported by Sonar Platinum: Under Tech Specs/Supported Hosts on this page-
    http://www.waves.com/bundles/ssl-4000-collection

Theres really not much of a difference between X3 and Platinum (as far as the way plug in's are handled).
Even though there was an overhaul done to PIM around a year ago but that was basically the way library is handled.
I've been using the whole Waves SSL 4000 collection since Sonar X1 (and X2, X3, Platinum) without any issue.

Have you tried looking for the plug ins, in the Browser ?

Well, I don't what I did wrong or am doing wrong, but not even able to access via the browser. As soon as I do a scan I get the following message.  " A VST scan is already running. Pls wait for it to be complete before starting
    another scan."
Somehow I think I messed-- to be polite--my system with these Waves plug-ins.
Although I have paid for them, they do not seem to be worth my troubles.
I might just delete them and forget about it.
I am going on vacation in two days anyway, so I will have time to calm down and start anew when I come back.

Thank you everyone for your input.

Sometimes the scanner can get hung. Sometimes it is waiting on user input and the dialog is hidden behind another Window. You can kill the vstscan.exe in the Windows task manager.

How exactly did you install them in the first place?

In Waves Central did you use Easy Install and Activate?......or just Install?

    I do not remember.
    Possibly just ..Install.
If I start over and do an ...Easy Install and activate.
    Could it possibly work?

Waves can be tricky to install -- it's easy to miss one critical step.  Lots of users experience what you have, just relax, and we'll get you going.  if you're flustered now, maybe best to wait until you're back from vacation...

    Thank you JonD.
I will follow your advice and start over on my return in mid July.
But in the mean time should I remove ALL my Waves plug-ins in order to star fresh upon my return or leave everything as is.
And by the way, how can I make sure I can reach YOU.

Actually I upgraded from A to E directly without going through the previous updates.
    Possibly this was a mistake?

The updates are accumulative.  You can skip to e from a with no missing parts.

    Quite possibly.
If you just used install you probably didn't transfer the license. See post #6
