Echoes of Voyager Past

A little something I cooked up over the weekend. The Voyager probe was launched on 5 September 1977. By 25 August 2012 data from Voyager 1 indicated that it had become the first human-made object to enter interstellar space, traveling "further than anyone, or anything, in history".

This may be the last one for a little while as I have almost met my goal of 52 tracks for the year, I will still be continuing to check out everyone else's wonderful creations - you're not getting rid of me completely. I must thank everyone of you wonderful people on this forum for helping improve my composition skills, my listening skills and also helping me generate movement/width within a mix.

    I like the sound of the heart beat as a theme.  It sounded familiar though.

    Very relaxing theme Adrian. The piece flows really well. Great job on this. As an aside, I did a tune on this same topic a few years back, though it isn't as relaxing as yours, lol: http://www.soundclick.com/html5/v3/player.cfm?type=single&songid=6734768&q=hi&newref=1

    Thanks David, you have a good memory as I did use a heartbeat kick at the start of one of my previous tunes but never carried it throughout the piece. This one goes throughout with a little bit of reverb on an AUX channel.

    Thanks Jim, it was one of those accident moments. The main hook part actually started out as something completely different and then I just hit on the tune.

    Thanks Dan, I took a listen to your tune and it certainly has that New Age/Yanni type vibe to it and I enjoyed the listen. Mine trots along at amore sedate 80bpm.

    Very nice....  I liked it, relaxing but still interesting.   It's a keeper.

    But "52 tracks for the year"?   Sheesh, I'm lucky if I can complete 5 in a year.   Way to knock 'em out!

    That's lovely Adrian, very fitting. Love the central theme. One of my favourite documentaries is this one;

    Thanks James, I vaguely remember that documentary and I share your thoughts on this. It does make you feel humble that in the grand scheme of things we are just a speck of dust.

    To be honest the whole study of space and its many facets has always captured my imagination and if I could have stuck with the maths I probably would have looked at a career in that area.

    I'm glad I took you on an enjoyable journey. I must admit getting started to do so many tunes was really hard but it's amazing that if you set it as a habit what happens. A suggestion would be to pick a particular time of the day that suits you and then aim for 15 minutes of music practice, it's surprising how quick that turns into one hour or more. You could track this as a reminder using the android app Habits, I think it is available for iPhone.

    Excellent piece.  Very full sound -- I found myself paying attention to different instruments in turn, so there is a lot to occupy the listener.
    I agree that the heartbeat interval was a great way to reset the listener -- like a sorbet between courses ;-)
    Nice job!

    Thanks Clark, I'm glad the heartbeat idea worked as I wasn't sure it would have the desired effect when I first wrote this.

    Very cool, the soundscape certainly fits the title/concept. I can imagine the Voyager in different phases of travel throughout this piece.
