Can't crop or delete unwanted clips

With this new update, now most of the time I can't crop a clip using the Smart Tool. I click on the edge of the clip, and the little directional icon appears as the cursor as normal, but the clip just won't drag! And if I want to delete some dead space from a clip, when I apply a split, the clip appears to indeed be split, but if I highlight the dead space portion and hit delete, it doesn't delete! Also, I added an effect to a clip in the Clip FX pane, and now it's gone. Something weird seems to be going on with not being able to edit clips all of a sudden!

    Hi. Have you made sure that the clip isn't locked?
    Does it work if you roll back to the previous release?

    Also make sure you are DEFINITELY in Clip Edit mode as set by the Track Edit Filter.
