Perfect Declipper Shareware (Freeware Not Sure) 32 and 64 bit.
Perfect Declipper 3.01 (April 2017) Why should I use it?In the 1980's, CD's were expensive and only available in high-end systems - and hence most CD's were recorded at the best possible quality. In the last two decades, due to what is called the loudness war, music has been released at continuously increasing volume levels. This has come at a cost: Reduction of dynamics and clipping. Clipping means that the loudest spikes in the music are cut off, which causes digital clipping distortion. In the last few years, it has gotten so bad that in some cases you can even clearly hear the distortion on laptop speakers. Perfect Declipper can restore the clipped parts of the audio, in many cases the result is indistinguishable from the original, not clipped, recording. In the process, it also restores part of the dynamics. Do I need high-end audio equipment to hear the difference? No! In fact, I've received many emails and messages from people who stated that their cheap equipment suddenly sounded like a high-end system to them. Even on the cheapest headphones the difference in quality is amazing. Just check the samples on this site. www.perfectdeclipper.com FREE IS GOOD.

Nice thing, especially for free... but from everything I see on that homepage, that is relatively pricey tool with free demo. Not a freeware.

Insert it on some track and start playback. Once in a while you will get a "beep" tone, sometimes with the voice telling you which site you should visit... I have checked on forums. That is fully working demo, with exception of that tone and message. Rendering the result and checking the beep is not inside it (repeating rendering if it is), it is possible to use that demo. Still, that is not what can be called "freeware".

I downloaded the WinAmp version, since the only clipped samples I have on hand are some badly-mastered commercial CDs. It seemed to be doing something helpful, but that annoying beep forced me to uninstall it. After uninstalling it I realized that it was knocking the overall volume down by at least 6dB.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

I don't usually stick my nose into other people's business, but there is a strong sense of community here in these forums and I think we need to look out for each other. And if the OP is misrepresenting his product (of being freeware as opposed to a crippled demo) then I think the moderators need to step in and either delete the post or have the poster change the title and message to reflect the true nature of this download. Or maybe someone just needs to explain to him the difference between "freeware" and a "demo" that is unsuitable for use in a finished project!

cowboydan FREE IS GOOD.
Yes, "free IS good", except when you have a beep inserted every minute, with the much more annoying audio clip of a guy's voice telling you to go register this software. In this case, free is fake and annoying vocal demo reminders are worse. What it really costs: http://register.perfectdeclipper.com/

A perfect de-clipper would analyse the incoming signal and use a target RMS to make up loss of volume. Sounds almost like a compressor.
