Using per project adio folders

I have always used per project audio folders. For some reason Sonar stopped creating them and I can't find the option to turn them on again. This is so bizarre. I would have bet the farm that there was a tick box under preferences and I just can't see it.

Please give my brain a thump and point me to the setting location.

Regards, John

Hi John.
The check box used to be in the Preferences/File/Audio Data section...
In SPLAT, it's seemed to have gone away.  I think these newer versions have this as a default.
If you try a "Save As", or "Consolidate Audio", it should allow you to put all audio in a folder of your choice.

Have you got a chance to read about the new changes in this months Tech+Music ?

When creating a new project using the Start Screen “Create Project” or Ctrl + N, it used to be necessary to create a folder prior to saving if you wanted to organize audio, MixScenes, and the project file itself into a common folder location. Starting with the 2017.06 update, SONAR will now create a folder when you save, providing that “Copy All Audio with Project” is selected in the Save dialog box.
The new method of project handling also improves the behavior of the “Save As” and “Save As Copy” options. When using the same location as the current project to save a revision, SONAR knows this is the original location, and will save the revision without creating an additional folder. However, if you choose a new location for the project (i.e., create a new folder to hold the project, or navigate to an existing folder), SONAR will place the project and its associated audio files into that folder when the “Copy All Audio with Project” option is checked.
Note that the improved project handling is designed to affect only project files. The behavior for template files, bundle files, and MIDI files remains unchanged.

The info in Bob's post is a little out of date. For now, changes are documented here http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=NewFeatures.02.html

I'm on the May release so this stuff doesn't work for me. Why does Cake keep fixing things that aren't broken?
It's getting old, fast. Now I have to upgrade in order to make things like they were in the past.

If your on the may release just use the "Copy audio with project" option in the "Save As" menu.
Cake didn't fix anything, they just made saving a project W/ Audio a little easier.

I understand exactly how you feel . I hate when "they fix things that aren't broken "

I wonder how a Cakewalk employee would feel if he was about to do an important gig and I changed all the white keys on his keyboards to be sounding all the black notes
Or what would happen if Craig was doing an EDM gig and when he goes to grab his Gibson guitar he finds out that I strung it up as a Lefty in Nashville Tuning

No maliciousness intended here folks  just a little un funny out there humor  ...

Straight out of the gate when I start a new project in SONAR I want all my audio files and assets to be in one place in one folder .I honestly don't feel like having to bang my head up against the wall hunting down a workaround to be able to do something I was able to do for 12 years in SONAR with out ever having a problem ...

I'm on the latest update of SONAR , I'm grateful that Scook provided the link ...now I can tidy up my Cakewalk projects folder ...

At least YOU'RE not obsolete, like I am, as pointed out by Mr scook.  I have to join you now - Waaaaaaaa

I actually like that it is the default now, because I always specifically used per-project audio folders anyways.  Are you having issues with using the current functionality for per-project audio folders?

My remote location is on the May release and the June improvements aren't implemented but the old preference option for saving per project audio is missing. I only hesitate to update because that machine is older, I'm in the middle of a huge project and Cake seems to break something every month. I'm seeking stability and just want to coast for a bit. My impression of the monthly fixes is that they are mostly for things that have been recently introduced and/or broken.

Some one please tell me if the option to change the location of the audio folder is still in preferences in 2017.07?
Thank you!

EDIT:
Sorry ... I meant to say 2017.06

The only thing that has changed is the preference for "Use per project folders".
It is now the default.
