The Red Carpet
Hey, guys! Been a LONG while since I posted a new track up here. I've been really busy down arranging and stuff for performing, and so I haven't had much time to devote writing music just for fun. But after delving into some old "production music" for animated T.V. shows and those 50's infomercials with the fast bells and strings playing memorable melodies, I was able to strip enough inspiration to produce something vaguely in that style. So after about 4 days of hard work, I'm ready to present... (drum roll) The Red Carpet Please feel free to let me know what you think! :) Dave

What's the picture associated with the music from? I like the style of the drawing and it fits the tune. The track is cool, just enough spice without coming across as over done. There are some TV Land game show vibes in there too.

The 50's infomercial vibe certainly comes through with a very interesting arrangement. What VST's did you use in putting this together?

That image is from "Ball of the Incoherents". I wanted to find something with a pre-1930's circus feel. Glad it landed in taste. Thanks for checking it out! bapu Fun stuff davdud.
Thanks baps, always meaningful coming from you :D biodiode The 50's infomercial vibe certainly comes through with a very interesting arrangement. What VST's did you use in putting this together?
Hey biodiode! The brass (horns, trumpets and trombones) and bass are all live. Everything else is using Xpand 2 except the strings, which are SONiVOX OCS. Some people have mentioned that the strings don't sound so realistic, which is probably because I just punched them in once in a sort of "set and forget" manner instead of working with them a bit like I'd usually do. Thanks for having a listen!

Great stuff - definitely evocative of that era. the vibraphone/bell was a tad too loud for me - it drowned some of the other parts out.

You nailed the style David, this has a Scott Bradley feel to it (those '40s Tom & Jerry cartoons) Lovely!

Strangely enough, in the first drafts of the tune the idea was that the vibraphone/piano line WAS the melody, but now that I listen back I realise how often the brass seem to carry a stronger, simpler melody linw which could easily be interpreted as the primary melody. Definitely something I'll keep in mind. jamesg1213 You nailed the style David, this has a Scott Bradley feel to it (those '40s Tom & Jerry cartoons) Lovely!
Thanks for the listen, James. It certainly was a lot of fun to put together, and while there are areas where it could still be improved, I can't say I'm dissatisfied with how it turned out!

I think you nailed the vibe. Lots of nicely interwoven parts that are arranged well, and most important it's fun.

My furry brain invoked the image of Tom and Jerry in classic chase mode, well done, thanks for sharing.
