[Solved] Just Got Console 1 - no bidirectional communication is taking place

The Console 1 plugin shows the message "The DAW does not support automatic track name and numbers." but I know this is supposed to be supported. Also, no bidirectional communication is taking place so I can't control pan, etc.

No idea how to rectify - would appreciate any help you can offer...

Nevermind, I found out you had to use the VST3 version to get this to work. That should have been at the beginning of the manual, not at the end... :\

I don't think there is a reason to. I have a Mackie MCU + Extender, and a Novation Launch Control that I have programmed to handle my multiple monitor set up (rather cleverly I might add). :)

As long as Console 1 does what it's designed to do I'm good. And so far, it appears it does!

Thanks Zargg! Looking forward to digging in today! :)

I've got a project I haven't been able to wrap up in Ableton due to a bug. I'm going to dump all 40+ tracks out and bring them into Sonar to wrap up.

should be fun! :)

Just having dabbled with it I think I see why people say you mix so much faster. Make your choices with real knobs and move on.. Love the idea!

I use a Mackie MCU and I love it. but I must admit, I have been intrigued by the Console 1 for some time now.
Especially for the sound of the compressor plug ins. Im a huge fan of Softube. I love their plug ins.
Tough choices for me lay in the future over a Console 1 or the Behringer X touch.

Even tougher is I love my Mackie MCU. it does everything I want. So until something bits the shed, the choice will be to keep using it.

Focusrite Saffire 18I8 - Mackie Control

The Console 1 really augments the Mackie - not replaces it. I use the Mackie to run the transport, to solo/mute tracks as I mix, to control the faders, and to do things like drop a marker or move to markers. You could do some of this with C1 for sure, but I love having 16 tracks always visible with the Mackie.

Personally, I don't intend to give up the Mackie/XT but I suppose you never know...

I use my Tascam FW 1884 the same way. As another part of the whole "mixer experience".
The FW 1884, I see as the fader part of the mixer, and the Console 1 as the Eq and comp section.

Just picked up the Console 1 myself... love the look and feel, now the real test of mixing.  I was concerned about the lack of party support for 3rd plug ins and the absent faders, but as others have already chimed in, its not really meant to function as a "mixer" per say.  Need to learn the best workflow now, and pressure's on me to come up with something sonically on target ... lol

Wish my computer system and budget would allow me the luxury of getting a UAD card or interface, as the plug in possibilities are endless, but for now, I will stick with the included SSL channel strip and see what I can create...

Many of the Softube plugins are Console 1 compatible
I got (amongst others) the Drawmer S73 when purchasing a Focusrite Solo for my laptop. So now I have 2 choices when mixing on my laptop  They make good plugins  https://www.softube.com/buy.php
You can demo all their products for 2 weeks, I believe..
All the best.
