[SOLVED] Time/Stretch Plugin Not Available In 64 bit Sonar!
Stretch.ax is in each Sonar folder but 64 bit Sonar refuses to scan them into the plug-in manager list making them unavailable for 64 bit consumption. Others report having it so it should be there, no?! But then, Plug-in Manager also gives me double listings of each plugin for X1-3 which makes no sense either. Current PluginManager.exe is version 23.5.0.32; Created: 12/11/2016; Modified: 6/1/2017.

The plug-in is not a real time effect. If you use a custom layout add it to the layout. The plug-in should appear when the menu is called from the clip Process Effect > Audio Effects. It will appear in the Process Effect menu only. Call the layout from any other place and the plug-in is hidden.

Not there. It shows up in the Plugin Manager list and under Process Effect for 32 bit Sonars but is nowhere to be found in 64 bit Sonars. It's completely unavailable. It's a DX which may explain this but then why do other users have it listed?!

If "Cakewalk Time/Pitch Stretch 2" is not listed in "DirectX Audio Effects" "Registered Plug-ins" and Stretch.ax is in the folder where the 64bit SONARPLT.exe is installed, you have a plug-in registration problem. If the Stretch.ax is not in the SONAR Platinum folder, you have an installation problem.

There isn't any bridging for 32-bit DirectX plugins in 64bit SONAR. If the DirectX effect is 32bit it won't show up.

Oddly enough I wasn't able to find Cakewalk Time/Pitch Stretch 2 looking in the plugin browser. If I pick By Type or By Manufacturer and type in "time" or "stretch" it doesn't show up at all. But if I pick "By Categories" it does show up. Which kind of seems like a bug (maybe due to the slash in the name?) of some sort. You might need to register the Stretch.ax plugin to get the 64bit version. Open an admin DOS box, go to c:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum and run "regsvr32 Stretch.ax"

OK. After running that command for each 64 bit Sonar, they now show up. Thanks guys for helping out. Still don't know why they weren't registered during installation tho.

You may not be able to have both the 32 and 64 bit versions of this registered at one time. In fact with the shared components I'm not really sure you can have older SONAR X1-X3 and newer Platinum really fully functional. But certainly 32bit and 64bit on the same machine may cause issues with plugin registration (since that's shared) and some plugins. I've left my older SONARs installed so I can keep the older exclusive plugins, but I don't launch or use them.

I do use them as older projects don't always work well in SPlat. Tho they seem to work fine it's obvious that SPlat or Windows 10 is affecting their behavior in odd but little ways. From what I've seen in the registry, 32 and 64 bit plugs are entered separately, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Does Stretch.ax still work after registering the 64 bit version in 32 bit SONAR? The plugin lists are separate but the plugin manager is shared. Your duplicate VST entries are most likely related to it having been changed. The problems may all be minor though, but endless.

It should not be a problem in this case. The 32 and 64 bit editions of Sonar don't share the same path for registered DX plugins. The 32-bit version of the Time/Pitch plugin is installed with 32-bit Sonar while the 64-bit version of is installed with 64-bit Sonar.

32 and 64 bit have their own plugin manager under Shared Utilities so there shouldn't be any crossovers. In my case I "registered" stretch.ax separately thru c prompt as suggested for each X version, which may not be necessary but seemed to hurt nothing. As for the double entries in X1-3... the mystery continues. BTW, PluginManager.exe is a separate program capable of being launched on its own outside of Sonar. VstScan.exe is not.

When you start the Plugin Manager from the SONAR Utilities menu it runs it with a bunch of command line options. I seem to remember only bad things happening if you just ran it by itself directly. Here's what is being passed to the Plugin Manager when started via the Utilities menu: "d:\Apps\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\PluginManager.exe" /Float /UseDatabase /ParentWnd 000000000004089A /VSTInventoryRegKey "Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\Cakewalk VST X64" Without that VST inventory key I'm not sure what registry location it will use. I do know they have changed the keys they use for various versions of SONAR. If you run the PluginManager without a VSTInventoryRegKey will it use the right one? The ParentWnd is just to hook it to SONAR itself. Not sure what UseDatabase and Float are for. For DX plugins the Manager doesn't make an inventory like it does for VST plugins. It only manages exceptions. The DX plugins have to be registered with the system and SONAR pulls what to show directly from there.

I just meant it could be launched. Functionality is limited to displaying the last scan results, name changing and layout creation. The scan and option buttons are disabled for the reasons you gave.
