Back on monthly subscription: Glitches, stutter, dropouts

Back in late 2016, I believe during the WASAPI drivers were introduced (my hunch!) I began to experience glitches, stutter and dropouts during playback. After some months I stopped my monthly subscription because the problem persisted. I rolled back to 2016.10 where I don't have the problem. Yesterday I got back on monthly subscription only to find that the problem is still there. I have now rolled back to 2016.10 again. I'm hoping someone here can help me...

My setup:
Driver mode ASIO
Focusrite Scarlett (buffer size max 20ms)
Windows 7
SONAR Professional 64bit
20GB ram
Intel Core i7 2,4 GHZ (4 cores)

I REALLY want to make this work mainly because of a particular bug fix that was released recently. And also yeah, otherwise I'm paying for something I'm not going to use :-(

Hi Pilu,

I doubt it's Sonar that's causing this issue (we would've had a riot upstairs).......my guess is it's the 6i6 drivers.

Is you 6i6 a 1st generation model? I'm guessing that's the culprit.......not sure if Focusrite is still supporting the 1st generation (I know they don't on my 2i4, but found some updated beta drivers that work in Win 10).

Hi Mesh,
Thanks for the reply. I would think you would also have a riot if it's the problem is with Scarlett 1st gen, as a lot of people still uses them :-)
What is interesting is that the problem goes away when I roll back to 2016.10. I have done this 3 times now with same result every time...

Have you tried different Focusrite drivers? (I can't remember the link, but I think it was RSMCGUITAR who found a Focusrite link that had various drivers for 1st generation users and it was posted in the Hardware Forum). You can PM him or do a little search in the Forum.

I had to try out a few until I found one that works quite well. A lot of us were NOT happy that they dropped support for Win 10 users, but it didn't really cause a riot. People just looked at different audio interfaces and the 2nd generation models (apparently) worked really well.
