Sound Forge into Sonar Pro under Win10/1703

Hi
Since Adam I've been able to suck audio files into Sound Forge for editing via the Sonar Tools menu. In the distant past SF would appear in the menu by default. More recently, I'd have to do the provided reg hack. Either way it worked.

But recently, the hack has failed to do the trick. In previous versions under Win10 I'd get SF booting but no audio data appearing, and now following the Creators update I'm simply presented with "Cannot Create Process". I've checked my paths in the reg and to the best of my knowledge all's correct. I've also tried the SONARtools app.
Anyone else having problems of late?
Cheers, David

When SoundForge or any program that should load a clip starts up empty usually the registry entry for Type is not set to WaveEditor.

"Cannot Create Process" suggests a permissions problem. Because SoundForge must be run as administrator, SONAR must too.

I don't have Sound Forge into Sonar's menu (I did not the regedit trick) but anyway if you need to run Sound Forge even not as Administrator there is a different trick:

just remove the "License" key at the end of this regedit path:

    HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-955843276-3736432714-3134191713-1001_Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Creative Software\Sound Forge Pro\10.0\License

(please note that the number after HKEY_USERS differs from computer to computer, so look for the correct number in yours...

I also created a simple .reg file with this content:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [-HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-955843276-3736432714-3134191713-1001_Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Creative Software\Sound Forge Pro\10.0\License]

and .... when Sound Forge is not starting I simply click to it and everything works.

I hope that this could help you.

    Regards,

    Giorgio

Many thanks guys. I really appreciate your replies. And yes, it turned out to be a permissions issue which resolved when I fixed it to boot up as administrator. All good now.
