Keyboard guys and gals - what is you go to 60s-70s electronic organ?
Looking for organ sounds for psychedelic music. Here I am thinking of the sounds of Incense and Peppermints, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rw1_FNdy-Ythat looks like a VOX 96 tears Good lovin Steppin Stone Double Shot, ... NOT the B3 sound. Or this!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db0JbJHG1Y0 I have been playing with the Arturia Farfisa V and the Vox. I never realized just how different they sounded! Thanks

I sometimes use this one: Combo FIt sounds pretty awful by itself, so I usually have another decent-sounding organ (e.g. VB3) playing in unison with it.

I used a standard issue bright red Farfisa "combo compact" on the original recording of Incense and Peppermints--over dubbed with a Grand Piano(Original Sounds studio on Sunset Blvd. Hollywood).

The V Collection Vox & Farfisa or NI Vintage Organs. Also Hollow Sun's Vox for Kontakt. All have their strengths but I think the Arturia stuff has the edge.

I'm fond of the old Martinic Model V, which nails the Vox Continental. It used to be a freebie but the developer went to work for Arturia and took it down so that they could fancy it up and turn it into a commercial product. However, once things get onto the internet they never truly disappear, so it's still out there if you search for it. The same guy's Farfisa emulation ("Model F") is still available, too. I was never as big a fan of the Farfisa back in the day because it sounded thin compared to the Continental and it had that horribly non-ergonomic knee-operated swell pedal. I have it but have never used it in a recording. Still, it's free, so you might as well add it to your toolkit. BTW, here's the correct link for the Combo Organ Discography page. jude77 inadvertently included the right-parenthesis in his URL.

I say get a real spring reverb and put any organ sound through it and it will go psychedelic.

Another Combo V (Vox Continental) and Combo F (the Farfisa).
I've used them both loyally in Windows 8.1/Sonar Platinum X64 with no issues what so ever.
They are free and they are semi deep in editing ability's (Automation for Trem pedal, exc).
The Vox Continetal/Combo V is my favorite out of the bunch.
Yes you can buy them from autrua but the free ones are pretty decent.
The free ones don't have multi timbre samples (no velocity). So if you are editing them in the Piano roll view and drop
the velocity of some of the notes, they wont change, its all the same sample.

I think with the Connie, Its more of a volume pedal change sampled for velocity's.

Ikmultimedia have just released "syntronic" ,and there is a free version,its actually pretty cool for a free plugin (standalone) and vst software. Been playing around with it for last 2 days, really cool to be honest http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/syntronik/

If you've got GSI's VB3, the "Red Tolex" preset does a serviceable Vox Continental impersonation.

I agree with Glyn ....i LOVE the B3 and B4 or course....but the Farfisa he spoke of is REALLY good and it has a "fast and slow' leslie patch that is dammmed good.
overall.....ALL of Arturia products are amazing. While i have the Analog lab and analog factory....the stand alone Jupiter 8V3, CS-80 V3 and others are top notch.

Just acquired the Arturia V Collection and loving it. NI's Vintage Organs has a pretty good Farfisa and Vox too, but the Arturia stuff is better IMO. Off topic, agree about the Arturia Jupiter 8 too, currently my favorite instrument in the collection.

Just an FYI - Felix Cavaliere of the (then) Young Rascals used a Hammond B3 on Good Lovin'. Great song - great Rock n Soul organ.
