The nob - thoughts (besides price)?

http://www.nobcontrol.com/#top-section

Evidently point your mouse and turn the nob to your heart's content. No special software (Automap).

Kinda pricey.  Kinda retro too, though.

Wish it came in a stone enclosure.  Marble, onyx, anthracite...

I've been wanting this since it came out last some time last year. But haven't felt I had the need after getting my Console 1.. It to pricey for me, as well.
I still get email from them from time to time, to say they are in stock.
I haven't seen much publicity about it lately, either.
I'd like to see an option, where you didn't have to move your mouse before using it. I would like to use both the nob and my mouse with my right hand. It would make me switch tools too often..
Nob with a touchpad
All the best.

So unless I've missed something, you point your mouse at something you want to control and then you can  use this to control what the mouse is pointing at instead of just using the mouse that you already had to point at the thing you want to control ?

Hmmm........

I'm not sure if they named it after the inventor, the investors or the would-be purchasers.

199 EUR for a pot and two switches? Yikes. If you really need more precision, try a nice laser mouse with oodles of programmable buttons for less than 30 bucks.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

It is indeed
That is why I have wanted one since I saw it.
I could perhaps use it with my left hand...

KoooOOOoll,, I was looking for a rather simple way to over complicate using the boring old mouse and screw up my workflow! Damn the expense, I'm getting sick of this cheap crap anyway and would be willing to pay 3x as much if they install a really, really big vacuum tube, rough it up a bit for that vintage "custom shop" effect and assure me that it will definitely NOT work as described with Pro Tools.. That should be fairly easy 'cause very few things ever do for long.
Of course, as a rule I typically work in SONAR and although I do in fact have a Mac running Pro Tools in my studio, I personally usually give that puppy a wide birth and don't use it unless absolutely necessary (upon client insistence. '-p)
Clients could come in and gaze upon my wondrous Nob and ask; "Oh GEEPERS Steev, what does THIS Nob do?" and I could raise an eyebrow, shoot them a sinister look and reply; "DON'T TOUCH IT! It's very expensive."
I do believe this extra Nob would fit in perfect with my extremely over priced Pro Tools rig which I try so painstakingly try to avoid using for anything other then running Reason..
Hee, hee, how COSMIC, just thinking about getting one of these Nobs makes me want to go and punch my mother in the mouth for having me...
Last time I felt like that was when I upgraded OSx and my Digi 002 Rack turned into a paper weight.
Well of course I could have shelled out a $200 (US) ransom to Digidesign for new drivers, but I thought it would be more fun to shell out 3x as much for an Avid M-Box Pro, which in reality is exactly the same as an M Audio M Box, but with a really cool AVID Logo stenciled in purple on the top which is well worth the extra hundred or so dollars then the cheap old M Audio version.

On a more serious note I could actually see the Nob as possibly an indispensable and relatively inexpensive controller for video editing work in NLE's such as Sony Vegas Pro. Vegas does support MCU protocol which is OK for audio tracks but abysmally non existent for video tracks, and there isn't any video editing mixing/controller anywhere near this price range to my knowledge a novice could afford.

And it should also be very useful to provide automation for plugins that don't support automation.
