changing old standard keyboard shortcuts

It seems like keyboard shortcuts are shifting around a lot when new releases come out.  This is a little frustrating.  I'm sure there are carefully considered reasons for it, but from my perspective, it just breaks the program and forces me to figure out why it isn't working the same way any more.
