Plugins scanned by scanner but not shown in Sonar

Dear all,

I have recently updated from X3 Studio to Platinum.
In the beginning, I have had all plugins show up and everything seemed to be allright. It was able to scan 118 plugins, which seemed a little too much. Then I tried to load 3rd party VSTs, 32bit ones with an orange (?) title, and it always had that "this plugin is missing / not properly installed" error. Then I tried re-downloaded the VST i really needed from the internet and re-added it to the library - and it went missing in the list completely, so did Cakewalk Sound Center.

Next I got rid of my custom plugins folder, copied all the VSTs in the native plugin folder and tried again. Now it has 89 plugins found, but only 24 actually show up. Basically all Cakewalk stuff shows up, except Cakewalk Sound Center. Seems like all the 32bit ones are indeed scanned, but missing in the list.

One thing - I installed only the 64bit version of Sonar during installation (unticked 32bit) - I dont see why this would cause an issue, but it might??
I am lost and running out of ideas.

Check the plug-in layout option. B in the image below from http://www.cakewalk.com/D...p;help=Browser.07.html. The three "Sort by" options just below "Manage Layouts..." should show all plug-ins.

It doesnt show more - but I think It says 84 / 89 because of the effects.

So I guess, the problem is that all 32bit stuff doesnt show up!?
Is Sound Center 32bit as well? Its very odd that at some point all showed up.

If I remove the native cakewalk plugin folder and re-add it, it scans through all the plugins but ends up just adding 4 of them. Can I not use old plugins anymore with the updated version? Well that surely wasnt the reason for upgrading Sonar...

Cakewalk Sound Center is 32bit. It has its own installer in Platinum and runs OK in 64bit SONAR. It seems like the trouble all started when you decided to copy plug-ins instead of installing them. Sometimes VST plug-ins may be copied other times they must be installed. As a general rule if the plug-in has an installer, use the installer.

When old 32bit plug-ins complain about being missing or not properly installed, it may be due to a permissions problem. Some old plug-ins require SONAR run as administrator. Then again, moving them after installation may be the problem.

I would imagine any plug-in that ran in X3 Studio will run in Platinum as long as the plug-ins are installed correctly and SONAR is run the same way.
