Using the Surface Dial on Desktop PC?

Just watching the latest Cakewalk video showcasing some Surface touch, Pen and Dial integration.
It got me thinking if there were any possibilities or future advantages in using the Surface Dial on a Windows Desktop setup?
Any thoughts?
