Roland A-300 PRO

Hi
I know this has been covered in other threads but I still struggle to get the A-300 set up properly to the point where I'm thinking of getting rid of it.  I bought it as I thought it would be really simple with ACT, but it's occasional use (it's stored in it's box) just ends up with me trying to get the control surface working etc. and achieving very little music.  I may just get a mini keyboard and forget having a control surface as well. But before it goes on sale one last try!

In preferences these are what are listed.
Inputs
A-PRO MIDI IN
A-PRO 1
A-PRO 2 Control

Outputs
A-PRO
A-PRO MIDI OUT

What do I tick?
How then do I get it to map well with the console view and the standard instruments Rapture Pro and Si- Piano
Thanks

Make sure that you have installed the A-PRO Series Control Surface Plug-in for SONAR.  You need this to make full use of the controller with Sonar.

Download it from here if you haven't already.

Then follow this setup guide:  Roland A-PRO controllers

    Hi
Thanks. The set up guide says to set input and output ports to A -PRO 2.  In devices I can set Input to A-PRO 2 but
    for output I just have

    Outputs
    A-PRO
    A-PRO MIDI OUT

This is where I'm not sure

In MIDI Devices. Inputs, select A-PRO 1 and A-PRO 2.

In MIDI Devices. Outputs, select A-PRO.

    In MIDI Control Surfaces under Connected Controllers/Surfaces, you should have Controller/Surface = A-PRO-1 / In Port = A-PRO 2 / Out Port= A-PRO.

If you have not set up the Controller/Surface yet, click on the little yellow plus button, then select A-PRO from the first dropdown menu, then A-PRO 2 as the input port (your control surface talks over this port).  Output port is just A-PRO.

You can find the A-PRO plugin lurking in the Utilities menu.

Thanks very much.  That seems to be working better.

Glad that worked out.  I seem to recall having to get over that hurdle the first time I hooked the A-PRO up.

But there is really nothing else like it for Sonar with a native control surface plugin.  This one is relatively easy.

Trying to make other brands work, now that can be a project!
