Going way, way back...

Just a for fun little story I figured I'd share...

So back in college me and my friends had this comedy rap thing, the Killa Korpse Gangstaz aka Tha Polar Bear MC's that I did while learning to make music (if you went  back to my earliest posts on these boards i probably posted about it here haha)... Technically I still do it here and there but not nearly as much anymore, it's just a once in a while for fun thing when I'm in between "real" music projects.

Anyway, the 15 year anniversary of our album release and first show is coming up on September 22nd, and since we basically recorded enough for 3 discs but only released one... I just started the process of creating a 15 year anniversary 3 disc (digital only of course haha) version of the album. So ridiculous.

But I gotta say going through my old Cakewalk Projects folder is so interesting haha. Most of the projects won't load properly because they use old synths I either don't have installed anymore, aren't supported anymore, or have since renamed to where I might have a newer version but Sonar won't find them because of the name change.... But all the audio is there thanks to .bun files, and the midi data is there so I can replace instruments and for the most part recreate the songs. Most of them I'm just going to remaster from the exported wavs I had anyway (I TOTALLY don't want to put more time into this project than it's worth haha), but for the few that are missing from my exports folder, I've been rebuilding them this way and it's just awesome.

Anyway, I finished gathering up all the songs last night... Going to start this weekend on the most basic, quick mastering job ever (just applying an Ozone preset and if it sounds pretty good, go to the next one haha... it's way more than i did back then!), and then gonna write a big article about the whole thing and put it out on September 22nd. Should be fun. Then I'll probably never listen to those songs again because they're just terrible haha. :-)

Back in the day, "mastering" for me meant mixing down to cassette. No need for compression or limiting!

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
