Would there be any interest if I...
...did a series of themes based on Mercury just changing the color of the Robin's Egg Blue elements the way I did for Tungsten about this time last year? I probably do a Dark Red, Orange, Amber, Yellow, Bright Green, Dark Green, Dark Blue, and Purple, both with and without matching meters. I'm not looking to change the essential nature of Mercury, but just tweak it. I might work on more color changes for Mercsten as well, but I might wait a bit on that one.

Never changed the skin, don't know how to load it, but it would be nice to have Selected track changing color to something bright to be able to see what track selected and what track is focused. Also if anybody could find the way to change color of lower (bottom) scroll bar- I always have to look for that thing- it is so small and gray- I never see it, but it is probably part of Windows, is it? Thanks.

If I could still change strip/track color like Mercury I would love a different color scheme! The only reason I still use mercury is because of that. I like how tungsten and many of the themes you and others have done look much more than Mercury, but I've got to have the ability to color the strips.

Hey vladasyn, Yes, both the horizontal and vertical scroll bar backgrounds & the 'thumbs' can be changed to color of preference. It's not just a windows thing. These locations are actually pretty easy to change. They are found in Theme Editor under the following 'tree' locations: Global/Scroll bars/Scroll Bar Background and Scroll Bar thumb. To change color for the selected track (at least the track header) in Track View go to Track view/Focused Strip Background. Go to Console view/Focused Strip Background to change the whole channel strip color. In each case, right click on the item you want to change (or select the edit tool at top of window), select edit from the popup menu and choose color of preference from the standard color palette. Don't forget to save these new color changes by saving this custom theme with a new name. My apologies to outland144k for this brief thread hijack. Best, HeyDan

For the sake of those people who need colored strips, can you do the themes in Duckbar? Otherwise, as you probably well know, the colored strips will no longer be possible after Theme Editor modifications. I don't happen to be one of those people, but I often read threads about people wishing their colored strips would come back.

I got your private message; I think you're right. Something weird was going on with the forum a few hours ago. Duckbar might be more than I want to get into right now. I'll take a look at it and see. I'm not really into the "hit-or-miss, wading through hundreds of elements/shooting in the dark" thing you describe (especially for a theme I'm not likely to use). But thanks a ton for the comment. From the comments posted above, I kind of wonder if it's worth it to just do button and meter changes if one can't keep the change in color strips.

There was something going. I was doing a major restructure of the Sonar Software forum's Resources and Utlities thread. Check it out. All the themes are now on their own in just one post rather than crowded in with everything else.
Would love to see more themes.

Mercury is still my favourite, any gentle modification would be welcomed. I am curious what happens, no particular requests

I created a light green Mercury when the theme editor was released and stopped with light themes. Until Cakewalk releases their own new light theme, there are pieces missing from the theme editor which make creating new light themes difficult. The big give up when modifying Mercury is color strips. My guess is the reason many people use Mercury is to maintain the X3 color strip feature. In my case, these are the reasons I am waiting on generating new light themes.

Hi guys. Mudgel, thanks for the confirmation about something weird going on Saturday. It was getting really odd there for a while. What I'm wondering, I guess, is whether or not you guys would still be interested if color strips are unavailable in the edit. I can wait a bit on this (like Scook seems to be) until a new more fully featured version of Theme Editor is released. So, what do you think?

I have to go back and DL your light green mercury theme; I don't want to repeat colors that someone else has done. I am getting the sense you have that many use Mercury primarily for the color strips. Not using them myself, I hadn't considered the appreciation some have for that feature.

I believe you can change any of the graphical elements of Mercury (buttons, switches, lights, some backgrounds, etc.) and still maintain colored strips, but not with Theme Editor. You'll need Duckbar or a resource editor as they are contained in the TTSRES.dll file. Altering it will not affect the main Sonar.exe file.

Hi Soens. PeterL mentioned Duckbar to me away from this thread when the restructuring Mudgel mentioned was going on. He mentioned that the use of Duckbar is hardly a "straight-shoot" (my words, not his) and involves quite a bit of trial and error when editing. I'm not sure that I'm looking to do this with Duckbar if it means more time essentially being used in exploratory searches and the like. So, for now, I'm kind of limiting my efforts to what can be accomplished in Theme Editor. I might rethink this, however.
