Sonar 8.5 Producer: Select-Tool Fade Issue (Answered)

Hello~

For some reason, I can't get the fading function to work with the select tool.
The manual states to simply drag the top left/right corners of a clip with the select tool to create a fade in/out.
However, when I attempt to do this, the whole clip end will drag to extend/crop the clip rather than add the fade.
I can even see the small triangular icons appearing where i'm supposed to click and drag - but as I said, it just refuses to work.

Can anyone help, please?

The clips ends have different "Hit Zones" Top part/Lower part.
Grab from the top portion of the clip. The lower portion is for slip editing, the upper part of the clip is for fades.
Tim is right, try zooming out.

zoom out a little. doesn't work too well when zoomed way in.

Is this midi or audio track? Offset mode? It should work and if you see the little red triangle that would seem to show it wants to work. But possibly your in a edit mode that blocks this function.. I have 8.5 on my DAW  but will be 2 days before I'll have time to check.

It's a midi track.
Since you mentioned that, I tried it on an audio track and it's working fine there.
I assume then that it does not work on midi?

if you freeze the track you will be able to apply fade-in & fade-out..

^^^ In other words... when using soft synths with separate midi and synth tracks, you can apply the fade to the  synth track after freezing it. This also applies to a single midi/instrument track, but you'll loose the midi data when freezing.

If you're using an outboard (real) synth with the midi track, you'll have to real-time record the track before being able to apply any fades.

You can also use cc 7 (volume) to effect a fade on the midi track. That way the affect is there no matter what synth or voice is triggered by it.
