Sonar not showing in control panels programs and features list.
I just updated to Windows 10 and I am only seeing CCC in programs and features through the control panel where you add/remove programs. Nearly all the programs are not listed except for a couple like Rapture and Dim Pro. Is this normal? I have searched for several hours and I can't find a definitive answer. Coming from Win 7, all of them were listed and I was using CCC. Can someone provide some insight please.

1. You don't see them or a Cakewalk folder when you press "Start"? 2. Have you looked for them with Cortana or search? 3. Go to C:\Program Files\Cakewalk and/or C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk and look for the *.exe files in there and then right click those and "send" to desktop to create some shortcuts. 4. As a last resort you can re-download/install CCC and start from there. It will find them and update them as needed I imagine.

They show up in the all apps start menu and the programs are in the directories. They just don't show up in the add/remove programs section of the control panel. Is that normal with windows 10? Another thing a little off topic is that the all apps start menu is horrible and it arranges them alphabetically and I can't get them into folders to organize them even when going to their root location in the start menu folder. I may install a windows 7 style start menu. If you have windows 10 and use CCC to install Sonar, could you look and tell me if they show up in the programs and features section or apps and features section in the control panel?

It is expected when using the Command Center. All the installers run from the Command Center are managed in the Command Center not the Windows Control Panel.

My experience is a little different than what scook says. I've got many of the SPLAT plug-ins, suites and collections showing up in add/remove, as well as all my SONAR installations (8.5, X1, X3 and SPLAT). Everything except X3 has been installed with CCC.

Only SONAR Home Studio/Artist/Professional/Platinum and Music Creator 7 are available in the Command Center. There is no way to install SONAR 8.5 or the X series with the Command Center.

I suspect there is a problem with the registry. I had to do a restore point and rolled back to before they were installed. I think some how it messed up how windows reads the programs. I even did a clean install of SPLAT. I really don't want to do a fresh install. It took nearly a week to get this PC ready. I can't think of anything else to do except uninstall and delete everything cakewalk in the registry and try again.

I'm not sure I understand why you need to bother to reinstall everything just because they aren't showing up in add/remove programs. Are the cakewalk programs not working? I thought it was just that you don't see them there.

I'm installing all the software for when the hardware is ready and the guy wants to know why he can't just look through the add/remove programs to see what is installed. Coming from Windows 7 he is worried something's wrong and when the hardware gets in he doesn't want to make it difficult to tell if it's the software or hardware if there are problems. He just wants a definitive answer as to if the programs show up or not. If I can prove that it is normal then I'm done. If it is normal for them to show up then I have to make them show up. That's just how it is. It has to be right no matter what. I looked in "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall" and the programs that are missing from add/remove programs are not there. This is not how I want to spend my time. Maybe it is normal. I sure hope it is. So far I've heard conflicting accounts. I have Win 10 64 and this is the exe's location: "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum" It seems that BRainbow has verified that they show up. Do you have win 10 64?

I think the way it's supposed to work, as has been mentioned is if it's installed via CCC then it handles uninstall etc and they probably won't show up in the Windows Programs and Features thing. It may also depend on if you have at anytime installed things manually, for example way back I installed stuff manually for a little while, then as I didn't use SONAR much anymore I just installed things via CCC whenever I decided to update things and have a look. It's been along time since I manually installed Platinum, have been doing it via CCC for a long time, yet the latest update installed via CCC still shows Platinum and the Help and Documentation in the Windows 10 Programs and Features thing dated 08/042017. I can't remember what and when I installed manually, but like I said it's been a long time since I have installed anything manually, it has all been done via ccc for a long time, probably 2 years or so. Below is of Cakewalk related stuff that shows in both my Windows Programs and Features thing and CCC Anderton Content Collection CA2A Classic Creative FX Suite Boutique FX Suite Drum Replacer Engineering FX Suite Loopmasters Content LPEQ LPMB Platinum Instrument Collection Studio Instrument Suite Command Center (Of course) Digital Sound Factory - Vol 3 Vocal Expressions Digital Sound Factory - Vol 12 Ultra Modern Synths Dim Pro 1.5 Pro Channel Concrete Limiter Rapture Pro SONAR Help and Docs SONAR Platinum Z3TA+2 Both Windows and CCC show more Cakewalk related stuff, but nothing more that shows in both places Windows 10 Pro 64bit

Thanks for the input everyone. It's strange though that some of the programs show and others don't. Rapture and Dim Pro show but Z3ta+2 doesn't. Strange. It seems to work but I won't know if they made the correct registry entries in order to communicate with other programs and hardware until I hook up the hardware. That looks like Monday. I may contact Cakewalk support as well.

I just checked. On a old back up DAW ( W7) I installed offline and Sonar is in control panel list. On my other computers ( W10) I use CCC and it is not on the program list. You uninstall using CCC.

I’ve been using you product for years and have never had this issue. I bought a brand new PC to use only for DAW usage with SONAR. The last three times I’ve used SONAR the application has died where it would pretend to boot up but it just spins (shows mouse busy) as it was opening application. I am a developer of windows applications and and familiar with the in and outs of the OS. I have never experienced this with another application. When your application drops out (happened twice today) it will not even show up in Add Remove Programs. That is absolutely not acceptable. I kid you not - it was working two hours ago now I cannot open SONAR.
What can be done about this? I believe your company needs to correct or make it right. Thank

You should start your own thread. You are aware there is nobody to complain to anymore. Gibson closed Sonar down. Start your own thread and include details of your set up and whatnot. The more details the faster your issue might be resolved.

I have tended to avoid CCC. But on some of those few occasions when I used CCC to install something, I did notice that the item was missing from the Installed Programs list. I didn't check every time though.
