More music like this?

I stumbled onto this band based on a comment from someone in another forum.  I really like the style of guitar playing and the way it interacts with the synth (especially in Synthetica), I like the up-tempo beat and I like the female vocals (and her non-vocal parts).

Based on the two sample songs below and my comments on why I like them, can any of you give me similar bands to check out?

TIA!

Craig, try some Stranglers - Keys/Synths/Guitars + Bass/Drums all working together perfectly.

I can't think of any bands which sound really similar to Metric, but in terms of great sounding bands with female vocalists who blend guitar with synths, some I can think of are Stereolab, Deerhoof, The Submarines and Eisley. I've always loved Stereolab, they have such a unique sound.

Thanks, I'll check those out as soon as the "Very Best of the Stranglers" finishes playing.

Why is that one band called Eisley?  Was DuPree already taken?  LOL!  So far Eisley and the Submarines seem like nice, typical Indie rock.  They kind of remind me of the Decembrists or Death Cab for Cutie (if I remember those correctly)...

    A-ha!

No not the band, the eureka moment type expression. I heard that first track a long time ago, liked it and promptly forgot who it was or what it was called, so now I know. Hurrah!

More than a hint of Placebo in there IMO........

I've got some Placebo but completely forgot about them.  First learned of them with Every You Every Me from the Cruel Intentions soundtrack.  I think I'll have to play them today!

Nothing wrong with either of those two choices!  Easy on the eyes too...   I've got some Pretty Reckless, but had never heard of Harry's sister - lol.

Nice, just not quite the song style I'm looking for.

Yeah, I was going for the female vocals.  Is Garbage close?

re: Harry's sister.  She does an absolutely awesome cover of White Rabbit.

    Hi,

This guy played lead guitar with TD for a few years, and his two solo albums are excellent. Try "Mojave Midnight". berry berry very nice!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

Two?  Try nine (as Sequential Dreams)!  Only $51 for all of 'em (digital download).  While nowhere's close to what I was looking for in this thread, I do like this style and will probably get all of them after my next paycheck!

The more I listened to other metric tracks today I ended up just thinking Blondie.

That sounded pretty good until the demon possession took over!

I bet she would be very good looking without the ridiculous tats, piercings and ear nonsense too (showing my age - lol!).

Metric... a name from the past (they were pretty popular locally a decade ago).  I saw them in a bar around 2006/2007, and they were fantastic.
Someone mentioned Blondie, i've been thinking about it and can't bring up a similar band.  That must be a plus - to not be a "you sound like xxx" band.

Thanks for the reminder, Metric will be on my playlist today.
