[Solved] Drag and Drop issue in Sonar Platinum

Almost every time I drag and drop a clip, either into the side to create a new track or into an existing audio track, it places the audio many many minutes deep into the session, beyond the end of the whole session. Sometimes it places it an hour down the session and I have to zoom out and scroll over to the clip where I can then either drag it all the way back to the beginning or CTRL-X and paste it back where I originally wanted it.

I do work with multiple clips dropped in per session so this is a real headache and unnecessary time consumer. Any ideas what could be going on?

Depends on the clip and the Always Import Broadcast Waves at Their Timestamp setting. If the clips are broadcast waves the import setting matters. See http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=0x22B09

Just make sure :
1) the timeline ruler is exactly where you want the audio clip to be placed e.g 2.01.000
2) highlight the audio track Number e.g track 3
3) double click on the audio in your browser and it will place it for you at 2.01.00 on track 3 no need to drag and drop
unless your pulling in multiple audio clips at once which i would then suggest using a solid snap setting also helps position drag and drop of audio clips to where you want them.

Good Luck

Yep, that was definitely the problem. I've never had the issue with previous versions of Sonar so I'm not sure what the change was!

Thank you

I have never experienced this when dropping audio into my projects.
This would have helped me out a lot a little while back when i transferred a project to a new one.

This is also SUPER beneficial for users who save track templates that have audio or midi data to recall with that track template.
Example 1 Audio : You can save your "Favorite" Audio track template , export the Audio as broadcast Wave ( save it in the same location as your "favorite " Audio track template and recall both very fast.
Example 2 Midi : You can save your "Favorite" Synth/Midi track template, highlight the midi clip then save as "Midi Format 0" for just notes or "Midi Format 1" to include CC information , also save it in the same location as the "favorite" Synth/Midi track template and again recall both very very fast. ( Note: When saving CC data to midi format 1, after importing you need to Convert midi controllers to envelopes, but it allows you to choose the Value and works perfectly for converting multiple CC stored in the Midi Format 1 save) > Brilliant!

Thanks Scook a few things came together for me with this post .

If you buy SONAR new these days, I believe it now defaults to import at timestamp off because defaulting to on was confusing people.
