Need help with running effects – during performance (pre-pre– record)

Hello cakewalk users,
I am experimenting with my vibraphone as I got pickups for them and want to try to run FX using cakewalk. I am able to get an output LED reading via cakewalk, BUT I am not having any luck in regards to FX. Please know that I did check to make sure everything was on and want to get the sound pre-not post. HOWEVER, even if post is not selected after I record-I can hear the effects. Other things that might help troubleshoot this matter:
I am using and XLR output with a duo capture Roland EX audio interface. And currently using sonar platinum version.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated – thank you, Jim

Hi. Have you made sure that "Input Echo" is enabled?
All the best.

First to use a computer as an effects machine you need ultra low latency so a good interface like RME. Otherwise your signal will always delayed by your RTL factor which may or may not bother you.

You insert an audio track, put the effect in the BIN put it in REC and use input echo to hear the output.
