Hurricane Harvey

If there are others in southern Texas I hope they are staying safe this weekend. We are in central Texas and are experiencing some heavy rains and will be for the next day or so. I think Beagle is up near the Dallas area and Bayoubill maybe too (hope surgery went well) and they don't seem to be having too bad of storms at the moment but if anyone is down near Houston or along the coast I hope they are staying safe.

I'm up in the DFW area with Reece. Just clouds, possible rain and cooler temps here. I have a nephew in Corpus, we got a Text from him last night saying was in good shape. I sent another message to him earlly this morning and I have not gotten a return message. It could be that cell service is out right now.

Michael - I hope you have been able to hear from your nephew.

Our rain fall totals have decreased a little bit since this morning's projections. So that's good news. The wind has picked up some here and the rain has been steadily coming down all day. We've been fine inside all day.

We finally heard from him in the afternoon.  Nephew was safe.

The amount of water they are getting down there in Houston is incredible.  Sounds like it may rain steady through the middle of next week.

Stay safe my Texan friends. Sounds like the wetness ain't over yet either.

Also... I read that emergency type folks are interested in people who have flat bottomed boats to help out. This isn't from the article I read that in but there are "185 Critical Rescue" operations that might require manpower or other help...

Mayor Sylvester Turner said the priority for Monday was to get to about 185 pending critical rescue requests.
"We recognize there are many other people out there in stressful situations, and we want to get to them," he said at a news conference.

Ugh... the dagnab forum edit tools made that a bugger to format for some reason.

My point is locals who can help may want to call the red cross or other agencies to see what is needed for those 185 "critical" rescues or if you can help in any other way.

    Again... stay safe, ya'll.

And Portland (I'm assuming) does not sit in the middle of flash flood territory which... some of the effected areas do.

Okay that was silly but maybe some "flash flood flash mobs" should be goin' on. Young folks seem to like doing these things... do it and save some poor arse mofos stuck on their roofs... or worse... in their attics (bring a fire axe?).

We Finns usually complain about our long winter, short and unstable summer and such.
Watching news like this from areas with a lot of sunshine and no winter gives a little perspective.

That's even more than we get all year around here ... I think we average around 36/38 inches of rain per year!

Anyhooo... there are still people that need help and it's looking like things are getting a little flusterschmucky so I'll just reiterate that if you're there and can help... sounds like now's the time.

    Cheers.
