How to export your project as a single wave file?

I have to say, I got this Sonar Home edition earlier today and its been probably the most frustrating day of my adult life. I say this not at all lightly, as up until my early twenties I suffered from premature ejaculation. That was a walk in the park compared to using Sonar.

For the second time today, I need some help off of you good people in internet land:

How, for the love of god, do you just export the whole project out of this program as a song to wave... it should be easy.. it just wants to save every single track as a seperate file...I cant believe that this is the only way of saving stuff?

Please someone help... I had a full head of hair this morning and i'm practically bald now. :(

"Record some music" they said.... "it will be fun" they said.........

Barring nuances, of which there are many, hitting Ctrl-A to select everything first, then export. In the export dialog check all things you want (for me is everything but 64 bit DPE), and export the entire mix. Mutes, solos, automation, etc. will all be followed as they are on the tracks. Bit rate/depth are also selected there.

The export dialog has a lot more capabilities, so is good to get familiar with it.

Like mettelus says, the export box that opens has many options that allow users to do many different things. Open the export box and then hit F1, that should open a help file explaining the different options you have in the export box.

But as mettelus has said, you have to select what you want to export first.

Hope you still got your premature ej under control.

Thanks guys, got there in the end, thanks for the help.. I get the feeling I'm gonna become a real PITA on here over the next few weeks lol... very greatful for the help though.

The only concerns I have regarding anything premature these days involve pulmonary function failure caused in know small part by Sonar/ my own easily confused nature.

What happens to pressing play and record at the same time.. those were the days...

Hey Comfortably PITA Numb.

Welcome to you. Not too concerned about your premature stuff. Fasting, sentient vegetarian diet, some yoga exercises to balance nerve connections will chill out everything, but what is happening with the lung failure condition?

Sonar is rough for me still, and have avoided much of the required learning curve to master it.
Others can testify better than me that you can take a musical dream from conception to publication in Sonar and there will be no quality advantage you missed out on by not using something else. The program is elegant, solid, reliable (if not a bit complex and noisy trying to get everything on screen at one time...just where I am at with it)

Time of the one button record simplicity onto magnetic tape is a fried relic unfortunately.

Hang in there though. Sonar will deliver everything you are trying to do way better than what was available in simpler times.

Many thanks for the support and encouragement.

And in answer to one of the above questions, hyper ventilation brought on by stress. That's the answer I'm going with on that on...

I don't doubt the programs good, I'm just a basic type of guy, I like simplicity.. It's likely that I'm getting old and grumpy.

I did manage to put my first bit of recording down as a test and was quite happy with it.

Tomorrow's mission is trying to find sonars version of pod farm to run the guitar through and use as a monitor. Pod farm makes everything sound like raspy farts...

Any tips on the above most welcome.

Also thank you all for the welcomes and the help, I'm also pleased you enjoy my handle, you should see my spout..

Comfortable,

Good that you are just doing hyperventilation over borderline panic attacks. Was afraid that your lungs were burned from smoking and emphysema, COPD or related crap. You will live a long time if this is the only issue, though the health stuff is not usually isolated. More significant a case for the vegetarian diet and a few heathen yoga stretches to keep everything pliable and hopefully balanced.

A lot of us here have a lot of history with pressing the old record/play button, so your not alone. Hope I am not giving our age away, but.... :)

CD:
Hang tough with SONAR.  At first the learning curve seems to be straight up, but the basics (recording, editing, adding effects) are fairly simple.  In a week it'll be second nature to you and make perfect sense.

Also, the guys here are immensely helpful and, on the whole, will work hard to get any problems you have sorted out.

Best of luck with your music!

Hey Jude (...) thanks for the encouragement, I agree it that Spider-Man would perhaps have difficulty with this climb..

This evening I actually had some fun with it, ive learned how to just record things and had a little play about with getting the drum bits and adding some effects to tracks, it's starting to become a little less arduous with those basics so I'm happy about that. What I'm going to tackle tomorrow is playing a riff then editing it to loop seemlessly so I can just play a bit rather than having to play the riff over and over so as it's the right length to begin with.. again any tips on this would be helpful, in the simplest terms of course!

I appreciate this is probably really basic stuff, but the technical computer stuff doesn't seem to come as easily to me as I would like, but never the less I grasped some very basics and am enjoying myself!

One day, CD, you will possibly look back at you first post here and ask yourself "Why was I so dumb and such a jerk simultaneously?".

IOW everything is simple once you take the time to learn it.
