2017.07/2017.08 Inserting track templates containing VEP6 cause crash

Hi - I hope I can get it right this time. The same post has been victim of the spam filter twice, so I write everything anew now (and excuse therefore the strange wording at time, I'm trying my best to get around the filter):
 
For the devs: Case 356010
Dumpfile: 
 
Severity: High
Description: When loading a Track Template that consists of VEP6 (Vienna Ensemble Pro 6) tracks, the application crashes after generating the Tracks in the main Track view. I can reproduce the behavior any time.
Steps to reproduce: 
  1. Create one or more Plugin instances of VEP6 and connect to slave
  2. Create Midi Tracks accordingly to create a playable project
  3. Save the Track as a Track template
  4. Close the project and open a new one
  5. Insert the Track template
Expected result: As with e.g. Kontakt-based Track template, the Track should be inserted and I am ready to continue.
Actual result: After the Tracks have been created, Sonar Platinum crashes with the dumpfile mentioned above being a sample. A Video of the process to illustrate the behavior is available here: streamable.com/r6xgl
 
 
I also found a Workaround for this, namely:
  1. Perform the same steps as above , except point 5.
  2. Insert e new Vienna Instrument into the Project
  3. Then insert the Tracktemplate
This results in the expected behavior.
 
I hope I could be helpful with this report. As said, for Spam filter reason I couldn't post the Original E-Mail I sent to the support team, which in turn advised me to post a Bug report here.

    If you want Cakewalk to look at this you need to open a support ticket.  They don't look at submitted crash reports normally. 
     
    Sadly the second you mention a 3rd party product as being part of the problem they will pretty much blame it. 
     
    I took a quick look at your crash dump, and the crash is in SONAR itself, with no plugins in the call stack (but I don't' have any Vienna products).  Looks like SONAR called some function and got back -1, but rather than handle that, SONAR is treating it like a memory address and crashing.  Only Cakewalk can say more.  It's very possible VEP is at fault (returning the fail value), or it could be a SONAR bug itself.  I can't really tell.
     
    Getting these kinds of bugs fixed can be difficult though, unless it can be reproduced in other DAWs, the developer generally will blame SONAR.  And neither company has the other's products, so they can't easily test and reproduce it.  If other SONAR users with VEP can reproduce it that would be a good first step.  I wouldn't get my hopes up though.  The best you can do is update all the software involved and hope they have fixed this already.

    As suggest above send an email to Cakewalk and also to Vienna instruments support it could be something simple.
