Rapture Classic free expansion packs
I just came across this post in the Knowledge Base. I found the Dim Pro expansions some time ago, but these were new to me. Of course, after I ran the installers, nothing new showed up in Rapture Pro. The expansion .prog files were installed in the old Rapture Program folder (C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Rapture\Programs). I moved the Expansion 1 and Expansion 2 folders to the Rapture Pro Rapture (legacy) folder (C:\Cakewalk Content\Rapture Pro\Programs\Rapture (legacy)), and they all now come up in Rapture Pro. https://www.cakewalk.com/...re-Expansion-Packs-1-2

Yes, those installers predate RPro. The only time RPro grabs programs from the legacy folders is during its installation. Any changes to the legacy synth programs must be copied by hand. FWIW, the Rapture Classic installers that ship with RPro include the 2 Rapture Expansion Packs. At leasat the Expansion Pack programs I searched for showed up in both the Rapture Classic Factory Library and User Imported Library.

I thought some of the patches were silent, but they are just limited to a certain MIDI note range. scook Yes, those installers predate RPro. Not for me. I checked that first. They were in neither. They only showed up once I moved them under RPro.

I look forward to getting a few Cakewalk expansions packs and upgrades when I'm a bit more flush. Until then I just stare up at you veterans and watch how the other half live.

Great, thanks! I just installed them. Nice and Easy. There are some great sounds. (So many to go through and explore.) I personally love many of the film textures and FX. Cheers! Thanks to TheMaartian for this reminder thread, too.

I just downloaded again and checked RaptureClassic_003.exe, the Rapture Classic installer for RPro. I can see the BT programs from Expansion Pack 1 in it and the FG programs from Expansion Pack 2. I did not do a complete count but I feel pretty certain the programs are all in the installer. NOTE: the RaptureClassic_003.exe installer reorganizes the programs in a way similar to the rest of RPro. This means there are no separate Expansion pack folders in the program browser. For example, look in "Bass Synth" in the Rapture Classic Factory Library bank in RPro. There should be a bunch of BT and FG programs from the Expansion Packs.

I'm kind of surprised that CCC didn't update Rapture Pro automatically, Steve. Do I need to install any of the older packs to have them available or are they "automatically" included? Thanks Michael

Only during RPro installation does RPro copy legacy programs from DPro and Rapture. For old expansion packs (whether free or paid) it depends on the installer. If the installer pre-dates RPro the old legacy paths are used. If the installer has been updated I believe it will first look for RPro then fall back to the legacy paths. This may be a problem if one has Pro but still wants to use the expansion pack in the legacy synth because the samples and the programs are in the RPro. There is a way to consolidate everything so that DPro, Rapture and RPro use the same folders but it is a little tricky because Rapture does not handle flac files and the RPro installer removes the wav files from its multisample root. This means every time there is an update to RPro the old Rapture wav files must be copied back into the root. Other than that, all the synths can work from a common set of samples and programs. Because the program paths are hard coded directory junctions must be used to re-point them. The rest may be done with either directory junctions or registry edits. Without consolidating the data, chances are some manual copying will be necessary to keep the legacy synths and RPro in sync. This issue could be avoided if Cakewalk would add VST Persist Compatibility to RPro making it a drop in replacement for the legacy synths but the feature has only been used in TH3 so far. Well almost...RPro does not play ALL CSC and DPro programs correctly.

I installed the free expansion packs but there was no option to put them in my F drive where my other Rapture, Zeta and Dim Pro libraries are. Can I move them there? Thanks Michael

Of course Muz3um. And the Tom Brockman (B Rock) ones are good too. Then there's this new 30 for 30 pack as well...

I don't know about the Muz3um patches for Rapture, but the Muz3um and Muz3um - Original patches for Z3TA+2 are problematic. The patches, once they load, work OK, but I have to click through a BUNCH of "no disk in drive G:" error messages before each will load. Sucks. Uninstalled.

Muz3um sounds very nice on Rapture! For what it's worth, have never seen that error with either instrument.

For Z3ta, the Muz3um completely changes how you would view that synth. The Virus Mod and Trance Ambient are the other ones to check out. I haven't had any problems with Muz3um for Z3ta either.
