How to save without creating a new folder?
I could have sworn I had Splat setup before to not create a new folder every time I saved a new project, but after one of the updates it changed back to creating a new folder every time. I've been trying to find where the option is to not do this but can't seem to find it anywhere, does anyone remember where it might be?

if you mean creating an "Audio Folder" inside the working project folder, it has become the default now. you can make changes though on the "save as" dialog box when using save as project.

I mean the working project folder itself, sometimes I don't want a whole folder created for a project. I may make a few little ideas I want to keep in a folder with other project ideas all sharing the same audio folder, but when I make a new project it just creates it's own project folder with its own audio folder.

Use Save as and browse to the folder you want to use. Check the "copy audio" box

I'm with you Trance. I don't like the new 'saving protocol'. Sometimes you just want to mess around with stuff without having to save it in a new folder. I want a folder for these (not quite serious enough) projects. I do not always want a new folder!

Create a folder called "Not Serious Projects." Create a project by typing Ctrl+N. Save As... into the "Not Serious Projects" folder.

Craig, every time you want to save a new project, it will create a new folder. A folder called "Not Serious Projects" will fill up with different folders within, each with assoc. audio folders etc. No?

typing Ctrl+N creates a project without a name; then you can save as anywhere you want

That's why I said "create a project by typing Ctrl+N." It won't create a folder unless you want to, assuming you have a recent SONAR update.

I just tried your suggestion and it still makes a folder within a folder. The thing is I have a folder like that from a year or so ago and the files were saving the way I like in it, with one common audio folder and each project file saved in the main folder not their own folders, but then after some time they started making their own folders again, and now I have no idea how to change it back. Every time I make a new project it's by using Ctrl+N but that doesn't mean anymore that the project is not going to make its own folder

I have difficulty with version conventions upon saving. When i started a new project id save the *.cwp into a folder with the song name. Then as i was archiving Id save the *.cwp into the following format <song name - date format> which would of course then remove any unwanted audio files. When i do that now I end up with a folder as <song name - date format> then inside that folder i have a folder with <song name> with the files inside that. Is there a way to change that behaviour?

I stand corrected, I just tried it and you're right. Even if you specify a different folder in the save dialog box, it creates a new folder. You're also right that it didn't used to be this way. The simplest workaround I can think of is: - Open the new folder, cut the .CWP file, then paste it in the "Common" folder.
- Open the new folder's Audio folder, cut all the files, then paste in the "Common" folder's Audio folder.

I believe the problem was that I was saving it with the "Copy all audio with project" selected, that must have defaulted on after an update and I never gave it much awareness

I mentioned that in my first comment. Glad its sorted. Chuckebaby you can make changes though on the save as" dialog box when using save as project

Yeah you did, I guess I just didn't understand it for lack of coffee or some other reason. Thanks though
