And who's job hangs in the balance over this bright idea?

Also note that if you pay for a year they give you 2 months for free. It costs more if you go monthly. Wonder if that price structure will fall on Sonar.

It's funny but my interest in Momentum vaporized at the exact same moment I looked at that price chart! What are the odds.

Seriously though I don't know whose idea this was but I have a feeling it's going to fall flat on its face. People are accepting the subscription model cautiously and gingerly. I think they generally like it, but only for large things (like a full DAW, an entire range of plugins or a photography processing suite). People are becoming weary of adding all these little "extras" to their monthly outgoings unless there's a good reason for them. The only decent plan here is the $9.99/month one, and that's a significant monthly payment in the context of all of your other monthly payments. I'd have to have a damn clear need for an app like this in order to justify paying monthly for it. If it were a modest one off payment I might buy it on the basis that it might come in handy "every now and then" - by pricing it as a monthly subscription they're restricting their market to people who really believe they're going to be using the thing on a daily basis, and I'm not even sure how many people that would be. Plus, you're going to get a lot of people who subscribe and then cancel after a month after realizing they hardly use it.

So yep I'm all for an app like this and good luck to it, however my view is that it's not a good match for a subscription model.

Agree witb Sharke - it just doesn't stack up as a value proposition.

Sonar Platinum, Win10 Pro 64-bit, 16Gb RAM, Six-core AMD, Twin SSD. Instruments: Roland A88 and Taylor 314CE all through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4. More ambition than talent.

It must be how boring Halloween is ... at least the music that came out of it is way better ... time to find Season of the Witch again and play all 5 of them back to back!

This is the problem with the 'rent everything' model that seems to be so popular. You only have so much money, and if you rent everything, you have to continue to rent everything to keep anything. Both my Jeeps - paid for. 10 and 20 years old, runs good and don't have to worry if I miss a rent payment it goes away - I have no rent payment. Money I could be spending on renting a newer Jeep is instead going to purchase (not rent) other things I enjoy - things I could rent or purchase if I was still renting a Jeep. When people finally realize that they have wasted all this money on things, can't expand their horizons with new things (as they have to keep paying on the old essentials) and ultimately have nothing to show for it, hopefully things will change.

One last thought - if renting is so good - why does the guy who is renting stuff to you own that stuff? Who is really making out better?

There are different types of music, utilitarian (ends based), conventional (following rules) and non-conventional/art oriented based on empathy (like the golden rule).  There I just made that up!

BTW I have to add, that I heartily support the Transgender community.  Of all the minorities I feel they have it the worst and need comrades, now more than ever.

Maybe if you created a rhyme for them it would help?  You know, we already have them for boys and girls.

Frogs and snails,
And puppy-dogs' tails;
That's what little boys are made of.

Sugar and spice,
And all that's nice;
That's what little girls are made of.

Are you saying transgender people are immature?  I'd agree in some ways for many. LGBT people in general can hide their feelings well into adulthood. But this is a direct result of social biases! We are the champions of the world baby.

With the lyrics of some rap song (the misuse of "snips" instead of "frogs" gave that away!).

@Dave - Not sure where you picked up immaturity except that the rhymes reference boys and girls, but I still consider men and women as boys and girls just the same.  I'm just curious what rhyme you would come up with for a transgender.  Heck, hermaphrodites need a rhyme too!
