Problem with Two Notes Captor, RME & Sonar. "Problem Solved"
Hello, recently I setup my amp to record through the Two Notes Captor, and no matter what setting I put, I can still hear the direct monitor tone over the software monitor sound. Or at least that is how my ears perceive it. I disabled ASIO direct monitoring through the RME Totalmix and that did not stop it. Setting Sonar's input echo seems to start up software monitoring, but I can still hear the direct monitor sound over it. I'm currently running the amp direct from the Two Notes Captor straight into the RME Babyface. From there I use Two Note's Wall of Sound in Sonar as a Cab sim. While I'm recording I can hear both the software monitor sound and the direct sound over top. Again, or at least that is how my ears perceive it. But when I play back the recording I hear the normal playback without the direct monitor sound. I disabled ASIO Direct Monitoring, and put input echo on. What am I missing? What else could be causing me to hear a direct monitor sound over everything else? How can I disable the direct monitoring and only hear the software monitoring while I am playing/recording? Please, and thank you for your time. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Hi. If you are using the monitoring through the RME, perhaps try to turn down the volume on the track you are recording, or turn off "Echo Input"? All the best.

Hey, Thank you for the response. Turning down the volume on the track left only the direct sound from the Captor. Turning off the Echo Input leaves only the direct sound as well. But I did find that turning down the main on the RME Babyface, while turning up the volume on the track seemed to lessen the direct sound and leave only the software monitor sound. This leads me to believe that the RME is the cause of my problem. For some reason the RME does not want to disable its direct monitoring, even though I disabled ASIO direct monitoring. Do you have any idea how I could disable the RME's direct monitoring? Also, thank you again for you help. I really appreciate it.

Hello, the Captor is working fine! It seems that the RME Baby Face is sending both Straight signal & Software effect to Sonar, I’m having a problem turning Off the straight signal and only the Two Notes Processing to be heard.

The “mode” setting in Totalmix might be the cause of the problem. I’m not at my DAW at the moment so can’t be sure but I think if it’s set to “DAW” you always get direct monitoitng through the interface. Whatever, whichever setting the mode is, try the other one. The mode is set by one of the menus, sorry, can’t remember which, it’s early here and I’ve only just woken up.
I do know I monitor through both my UFX and DAW at the same time with some things going direct through the UFX and others through the DAW and I don’t use the “DAW” setting.

Have a look in Matrix view in Totalmix how things are routed. By default all outputs are routed to first analog as well, as I discovered and got overs when routing to phones on another out. I even use that intentional with Cubase, first routing one input to an output(something unused in ADAT), activate loopback on that output so it is sent to a second input that Cubase can grab for external gear. You easily make presets for various such routings to recall as you please - if you are worried store current to a new preset first and modify and fool around a bit. You should also see if any extra outs reacts to your input if echo in Sonar is off. Also Aux tracks in Sonar may route things you are not aware of - at least that is what I found in ProTools and Cubase too. You can even exit Sonar and troubleshoot the routing stuff for RME interface to be sure where problem is - if Sonar is involved at all.

RME default there was a Parallel Signal that when using Two Notes Captor simultaneous "Straight & Process" paths Changed RME Monitoring: [Option > Reset Mix > Straight Playback With All To Main Out] gives the best results. Thank You to the friendly & Helpful CW Members!!!

I do total reset often. This resets all so you don't have to look for that loop-back you've forgotten.
StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

The "Loop-Back" is one thing I didn't forget.
