Is there any way to make the GUI of Platinum less dark?
After using X3, I just opened up my new Platinum for the first time, and I find that I can't use it. It is just way too dark to read on my monitor, specifically the Control Bar (dark grey on darker grey). It seems that it is possible to adjust colors in many places but not in the Control Bar or any of the items in it. It is the same for both the Mercury and Tungsten versions. It looks like I'll continue to use X3 until there is some kind of change. Am I correct that there is no adjustment I can make other than maybe getting a different monitor? I'm using Win 10, 64 bit, a video card that works fine for everything else, and a good LG monitor. Thanks.

There is an entire section of the Theme Editor dedicated to the Control Bar. It is not installed with Platinum but is available in the Command Center and your account. The help for the Theme Editor is installed on your PC.

Some clever and generous forum members have used the Theme Editor to create new themes for SONAR and made them available for the rest of us to use. You can see them and download them here. EDIT: The custom themes have custom color schemes. Maybe one of them has a control bar that works for you.

I would just switch to the Mercury theme in preferences.

I use the Mercury theme. The default one for me is too dark but perhaps it's easier on the eyes if working for a long time on track???

If Mercury is too dark I would turn up the brightness on your monitor

Sounds to me like the install has switched the theme. The Mercury theme looks the same as the UI in X3. Go to Preferences > Customisation > Themes and change it in there.

Tungsten is the default. I would have suggest using Mercury but for this part of the OP dscoyne It is the same for both the Mercury and Tungsten versions.

Yes, exactly. The default on my X3, which I believe is the same as Mercury, is much brighter. (Because it wasn't designed to be DARK!) And thanks, guys, for the info about the custom themes. I'll look at them more closely, but I think that some aspects of the Control Module that I need to read may still not be changeable. I think that the suggestion to brighten my display may be a solution. However, the software for my LG monitor is not working in Win 10 and I could not find a correct downloadable new driver. I'll contact LG next week and see if they can provide me with one. But changing the brightness setting might make everything else I look at overly bright. I think that Cakewalk should make available an overall option for Platinum that is not the dark theme.

I think you're missing that there IS an option. It's mercury. I don't understand how you can't see it.

Yes, Mercury should look similar to the X series. In addition to setting the theme to Mercury, set the lens drop down to None.

Well, I feel like a dunce. As I said before, for me, both Mercury and Tungsten had the same problem. But I finally have found the answer..........Ready......... I was checking out Platinum without ever having loaded a song into it. If there is not a file opened and a track set up, everything in the Control Module is GREYED OUT! Thanks for all the answers. I learned some things from them......Don
