Weird forum behaviour with Chrome - solutions welcome :-)

Google Chrome 64bit (up to date) on Win10 64bit (up to date)

#1: GO TO TOP OF PAGE arrow icon inactive. This button does not react to a mouse click:

#2: GO TO FIRST UNREAD POST only 'half' working. Clicking the icon takes me to the top of whichever page has the first unread post on it, but not to the actual post itself:

So far I've tried reinstalling Chrome but both problems remain.

In Firefox, the To The Top icon works, but the Go to First Unread Post behaves the same as in Chrome.

In IE11, the To The Top icon works, and the Go to First Unread Post also works.

As always, any help/advise greatly appreciated

Take a day off and go for a walk in the sun?  Oh wait, you're in England...  Scratch that.  Right.  Well, it looks like this place was designed with inferiour (u added) browsers in mind.  Those features don't work for me (using Chrome) any more either...

To add, I found another problem in Chrome that works as it should in both IE11 and Firefox:

#3: QUOTE POST only 'half' works. Clicking the icon enters the quoted post into the Quick Reply window at the bottom of the forum page, but the page itself doesn't automatically then scroll down to that window:

Yep - very annoying!  I haven't been able to go to the first unread post, last post of a topic (months) or have the screen scroll to the quote area (fairly new - a week maybe?).

That 'go to first unread post' thing doesn't even exist using Edge. In fact, I can't remember ever having used it in all the years I've been here.

Also (in Chrome) - #4 (related to #2 above?) -inserting a link to a specific post just takes one to the top of the page that post is on too, not to the post itself.

I blame Gibson.

It's not his fault, he's cleaned up his act, and Blood Father wasn't too bad at all.

How odd, I see it (and it works) in Edge mate:

Yes I see the top of the page arrow and the findpost thingy, but there's no 'go to first unread post' doodah.

Ah sorry mate, I misread your post. However, I do see 'go to first unread post' in Edge and it works properly.

No solutions, but FWIW using Opera...

#1 Doesn't work but I've never used it before so can't say if this is new thing or not.

#2 Hasn't worked properly for a long time for me in either Opera or FF

#3 Same here. This is a quite recent thing, used to be fine.

#4 Don't know how to test that without actually having one to click on.

This is at least the 3rd thread to bring up this issue. Here's the same reply I've posted in the others.

Google deprecated the old scrolling API calls with v61 of Chrome, so it's not a bug; it was done on purpose, the same way they deprecated Flash in Chrome. Whether that 'bugs' you enough to switch browsers...that's your call. Google is trying to force current HTML standards.

Sometimes, if you don't force change, nothing happens.

For now, I'm just living with it. It's a PITA, but it works across all of my devices, unlike any of the other PC browsers.
