CD burning program?

Hello fellow Sonarians,

I did a search and could not find anything new posted in the last few years, although this could be operator error! LOL!
I need a recommendation for a CD burning program; easy to use is more important than bells and whistles.
I only intend to master the songs in Sonar with individual volume adjustments and possible EQ and then use a CD program to burn the result.

I think this is the way to do it, but any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Ray

Almost any generic CD-burning program can create a Red-book CD. I use Nero, but even that's fancier than I need. Since you're doing all the mastering in your DAW you don't need anything else.

The gold standard is Sony CD Architect. Bells, check. Whistles, check. 100 bucks last time I checked. I have it, but tend to use Nero instead because it's more straightforward.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I've used Sony CD Architect for many years.  A while back, I read about this program and was interested in it, but why use something different if you have one of the standards in cd production?   If I ever need ddp, I'll prob get it.

Studio One Pro 2.6 *ahem* but really it's a mastering solution that happens to burn to CD if you want it to.

I have been using the free CDBurnerXP for years:

https://www.cdburnerxp.se/

It is very easy to use just drag and drop the files to be burned and click on burn.  It will tell you if the amount of files you want to burn exceeds the blank CD/DVD limit.

The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.

I bought Nero years ago and upgraded a few years ago. I don't think I paid more than $50 over time.  For the money and the zillion times I use it it has more than paid for itself. I use a number of it's features  to me they are all very straight forward and user friendly. Never had a bad CD. It won't let that happen.

For the few CDs I burn these days, I just use Windows Media Player, no bells or whistles . . . just drag from a playlist and burn away. I have Nero 12, but only use it for erasing rewritable CDs.

The problem I ran into with the burning software in Sonar is it does not burn tag info with the tracks. This is a feature I am asked for a LOT !! Maybe the ability to write ID tags in Sonar would be a nice update.

Sounds like you need to create "CD-TEXT"
There is a piece of software called ImgBurn (I think it is free).  Then follow this:

For Nero People:

I use Nero "BurningRom" application.  I've used others over the years and have a couple others, including CDBurnerXP and Imgburn, but Nero BurningRom is my go to for audio CD burning.  A feature I haven't found in any other Audio CD burning program, is Nero BurningRom will burn to multiple CD burners at the same time.  I have a bank of 5 CD/DVD burners (USB connected) and I can burn 5 CD's at a time.  The "Disk at Once" (DAO) option will allow burning the song title and artist on each song.

l tried CD Architect but didn't see anything that Nero didn't do and it won't burn to multiple discs.

I always used CD Architect, but with Sony not updating it, then selling out, I started to look elsewhere.

Now I use HOFA - "CD Burn and DDP". - highly recommended.
https://hofa-plugins.de/en/plugins/cd-burn-ddp/

Besides writing text, you can also add UPC and ISRC codes.
...not to mention DDP files.

I use the stand-alone now more than ever, and absolutely love it.
...so much so I snagged the DDP Player Maker as well.

Happy hunting.

Hello again!

I've had some issues.

The Ashampoo software didn't have any place to add metadata.
The Nero Burning Rom 2018 could place markers for the song beginnings, but had no place to add the actual song titles.
I'm going to try the HOFA burner next.

Any help is appreciated.

Addendum.

I just downloaded the trial version of the HOFA software and, as a post earlier stated, it looks (to me, anyway) like it does everything that I need. The price is more than I wanted, but I think I'll buy it.

One question I do have is this: is it worth it to buy the plug-in version that can be used within the DAW (HOFA states that they have tested it with an array of DAWs, including Sonar), or to go with the stand-alone.

I'm using the stand-alone trial version now.

Thanks in advance for your comments.
