Recording again the same project in 24 bit instead of 16 with Sonar LE

Hi All,

I would like to record again the same project/song (now 24 bits instead of 16 bits, as I have previously done). So I am raising two points:

1. The Settings:
Do I just need to change the FILE resolution in the general audio options? User guide seems to tell that.
Does the DRIVER resolution just above need to be change? (16->24) Are there some other parameters I should keep in mind?

2. The MIDI tracks:
Can I keep the same MIDI tracks used in my previous 16 bit project without recording them again? Since MIDI signals are not like audio recorded data, I guess that I can keep them unaltered (or that I can export the keyboard tracks as a MIDI file and then import them in the new 24 bits project).

Thank you for your help!

You need to change the driver resolution and the record and render resolution. MIDI doesn't have anything to do with it.  You do this it two places. The first one is done in Driver Settings. The last two are done in Audio Data. Both are in the Preferences.

As John said and yes you can use your midi.

What I would do is save the project as a MIDI file,
    Close the old project
Now change your settings to 24 bit and OPEN the midi file and start over.

Thank you both for your replies.

    OK for the MIDI point.

Concerning settings, I do not have the same screens. I found online the one you may talk about (for record/render bit depth):

But on my side I only got this one (sorry I cannot get a larger image):

There are only the "Audio Driver Bit Depth" & "File Bit Depth" on it. I guess it is enough if I want to work with 24 bits but I would like to confirm...
I did not find other bit depth settings in my DAW after having delved into the user guide.
    Thanks.

I noticed right away the "use per project audio folder" option does not exist anymore so that's an old document.. And your screen shot page your showing is the audio driver page, not the audio data page. If there is one in LE. Try the advanced tab. But it looks to me like you have it set right.

There is actually no supporting documentation for LE, The documentation is only written for the full versions. So you have to figure things out on your own. Home Studio is the same.

Another time saver for re setting up a project is to save the original VST tracks as a track template.

Ok so I keep both fields (driver & file) with 24 bits and will make some try. The advanced tab does not deal with bit depth, and I did not find any other fields related to it.

    Thank you for your time!
