[Solved with Work Around] 32bit to 64bit migration and session drummer 3 problems.

I am going to 64 bit daw.

Two pet project file have problems both related apparently to session drummer 3

First project wont load at all but locks sonar requiring process kill. Loading this in safe mode and just saying no to session drummer fixed that. Deleting session drummer from this project and reinserting it works but send the midi tracks to it does not drive the drums on the gui even though everything looks copacetic. file closes and reloads fine.

Second pet project loads, but if you dare unmute the drum bus the drum buss goes to the red and stays there. Also the output does too and shuts down audio. Deleting session drummer from this project and reinserting it solves all that but send the midi tracks to it does not drive the drums on the gui even though everything looks copacetic. (again).

In both instances I load the SS Sizzle kit dry fwiw
Also clicking the loop play on the session drummer gui doesn't seem to play either so... yeah.

So I quit for the night.
Any I ideas?

Is the version of Session drummer 3 still 32 bit?

Possibly your still loading a 32 bit versions which can cause cause issues. I've had to totally ditch any 32 bit VST's as I was having crashes and I narrowed it down to it being my beloved Mr Tramp 32bit

32 bit plugs will be shown as such and orange in the browser.

@Chuck. Yes it is the latest update, however I rolled back to 9 2017 and nothing changed positive or negative.
I haven't rolled forward as yet.

@Cactus. This is a fresh install of Windows 10 x64 and a fresh install of Sonar x64. And I see no orange.

The disturbing thing for me is that the mix will be out of kilter if I ever get the session drummer to play.
I do have have the 32 bit setup of old (last week) on a bootable secondary sata channel and a boot chooser (EacyBCD/iReboot) to select between the two so I can copy, if not by hand, the SD settings to preserve the mix. I have special assignments in the eletcro pads (vibra-slapps and stuff) also I do use the SD3 mixer a little bit. - this is better left all at unity in hindsight.

But what a seemingly unnecessary pita!

What I was asking is if for some reason you still had the 32 bit version of SD3 installed, 32 bit plug ins show as orange in the plug in browser. If not then it's not the issue.

One thing you could do because you can still open in 32 bit is open the offending projects, remove SD3 and re save.
Now try opening in 64 bit and simpley add SD3.

Yes but wouldn't the settings for the SD3 added be reset to default? The act of removing SD3 in 32 land will clear all that was known about it if I'm not mistaken.

The color in the browser depends on the theme but all 32bit plug-ins in 64bit SONAR have a notation (32-bit) at the end of the plug-in name in all menus and the browser. Also 32bit plug-ins do not show the standard header when the plug-in UI is opened.

Im not sure how re establishing 32 bit to 64 bit plug ins work.
your right it should load the default plug in but ive never gone from 32 to 64 before.
I asked about which version because Sonar X3 had an issue with SD3 going missing.
Maybe some remains of that going on, I don't know.

    Yeah saw those threads.
SD3 is definitely here and found but oh how fussy.

I plan to get after it again tonight. First I have to find out why SD3 is acting comatose.
    I'll bet it's something I'm doing wrong.

For future masterpieces I plan to use AD as I couldn't in the limited memory space afforded me in 32 bit land.

I just put 32GB of ram in so..

Update: I got home started the daw, expecting to spend some time trying to diagnose a 64 bit despondent session drummer and gosh it just worked. So that's cool.

I had intended then to make presets for each session drummer instance in each mixed song to take over to the 64 bit side but my trusty 32 bit system now won't load any projects without the dreaded reset button crash so I gave up again as I've had enough of computer puzzles for one day.

    Maybe tomorrow.

I'm calling this "Solved" although I'm not pleased with having to migrate setting from 32 to 64 for SD3 when TTS-1, AD Keys, Kontact, sfz player! even all just work. I don't know what makes SD so special.

I don't either. If the original project used Session Drummer 2 it would be a different matter but the move from 32bit to 64bit for the same plug-in should be seamless.

It's why for years I have dreaded this conversion though it's not as bad as I thought it might be.
The news that momentum was 64 bit only and 98% of yous are 64 bit made me fear as I did running Win 7
that my days were numbered. Now if I could just get back to the way it all was before.
