Take lane audio disappears - nightmare!

I recorded 5 comp mode takes of a vocalist. After an initial crack at building a comp, I flattened it. We noticed a couple timing issues so I unlocked the comp take lane and fixed them with the audio transient tool. I closed the project a while after that. After listening to the flattened comp for a few days we decided to try a different comp but lo and behold the only audio left in the track was the flattened comp. All 5 original take lanes were empty! Anyone run into this? Can the audio be recovered? Any ideas? The singer is not available to re-record :-(

Hi. You might have by mistake clicked "delete all muted clips" as well.
    That creates this outcome.
You should anyway have the recorded audio in the project folder, even if missing from the project, as long as the project was saved after recording.
    Hope it helps.
    All the best.

Thanks Zargg! I would have to VERY mistakenly clicked "delete all muted clips" because I'm aware of what it does but that would explain it. I guess that would be what makes it "by mistake" :-)

Although I don't think I made that mistake, there's not much sense in worrying about how it happened right now. Recovering the audio is my immediate goal. I see 5 takes similarly named "Vox Verse 1 (Bounced, 882)". I guess I'll play around with them to see what I've got. The "(Bounced, nnn)" in the title sort of makes me think they're not the original recording tho...

You probably bounced the track after editing the flattened comp. That would delete the clips.

If you use project versioning (I hope you do) then you can regain those clips by opening a version from before you flattened the comp.

You're absolutely right Base 57! I made some audio transient changes to the flattened comp and then bounced them - that's the only way I know of to render audio timing changes. I didn't imagine that would affect the other clips. Good to know!

p.s. yes, I have prior versions.
