File->Save in Platinum doesn't grey out when the project has already been saved

I just noticed a strange bug in Platinum tonight - when saving a project, after you have saved your edits, the menu item for Save should be 'Greyed out' so it's clear the project doesn't need to be saved again. But, I continued to click 'save' to see what happens- and sure enough, that save animation in the transport time window will show that save progress bar every time I hit save. (even though it didn't need to be saved again & again). Please Fix by adding a greyed out Save menu item when the projects dirty bit is cleared, and no save progress bar should be displayed as the menu item (and Ctrl+s shortcut) will become unavailable.

It's probably a plugin that's telling SONAR something has changed. I've seen that behavior with some soft synths - I suspect it's ones with random modulation features. To determine if it's actually a SONAR bug, open a new blank project and see if you can duplicate the problem.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I'm pretty sure that SONAR has never grayed out the File>Save menu item.

thanks bitflipper. I just tested that here and to no avail. the save never disables even on blank projects with no plugins or soft synths loaded. it feels buggy to me as Sonar allows a person to save a project over & over again when there's nothing to actually save. Please Fix it!

Is there any Windows app that greys out the Save command even if nothing has changed?   I just tried Word, Excel, Paint, Notepad, and a few high end 3D apps, and they all behave the same way.

yeah, of course they do. Ableton Live, Avid Pro Tools both for sure grey out the Save menu (and disable it) when the project doesn't need to be saved. I depend on that functionality, that's why I was looking for it in Platinum. :) it alleviates unnecessary save progress bars and saves cpu cycles too. but more importantly - it's a way to confirm real quick you have saved edits.

You can tell if a project hasn't been saved because there is an asterisk at the end of the project name in the top window bar.

That said, I do have some Windows software that behaves as the OP describes but I really can't understand why this is a necessity in SONAR.
