TH3 ERROR 30th Anniversary CA X AMPS

Good Day,
I had just updated to 2017-10 (from 06). When I load a project I had used 30th Ann CAX Amps using TH3, Im getting the following error, If I start a new project and insert them they seem to work? Anyone any advise would be appreciated?

Cheers

what if you save and re-open that new project? if you get the same error, it's probably the plugin, if not it's probably something else in the original project that gives the error

If I open in safe mode and dont load CA-X/TH3 amp plugin references project opens OK, then reinsert CA-X/TH3 amp, it loads and works OK, save and close, it opens OK and seems to work OK if I dont close Sonar (I did this yesterday, also after trying stuff in previous TH3 issues threads and Scooks advice). If I close Sonar and reopen and load  project I get same TH3 error again, and crashes Sonar.
Ive been trying all kinds of things, so its getting confusing, so it seems today, when I open Sonar I have to rescan plugins, with re-scan failed and new checked off, before opening project and it seems to open OK again so far. I guess the worse thing is Im getting inconsistent results doing various things, it may or may not open with TH3, with or without re-scan, etc. so hard to keep track of what worked and didn't work  ???

I was concerned about this when TH3 got updated in 2017.10. Frankly TH2 has been nothing but a headache for me with these amps. The original CA-X amps wouldn't work if TH2 full was installed, when TH2 changed sometimes the FX chains would load but without the amps so they sounded like crap, I had to come up with separate versions for Artist/Professional and Platinum but in some cases if someone upgraded to Platinum there were issues having both installed, TH3 didn't always translate TH2 properly...I've opened many projects where if TH3 was involved, the amp didn't sound like it was supposed to because the IRs that were included with TH2, and which I used in a lot of the amps, were not in TH3. I asked whether Cakewalk could just install the old IRs, but I got the impression they weren't sure how to handle it for demo versions or Home Studio or something...I'm not sure of the exact reason.

Cakewalk assured me there wouldn't be any problems with the latest update and the older amps, but I guess that's not the case. Try this: if an amp either doesn't work or sounds like crap, delete it and drag in a new one from the browser. That might help. Take a screen shot of the old amp's settings first so you can duplicate them.

I do think when the CA-X FX Chains work as they're supposed to, they're pretty cool. But I have no idea how many people have experienced them working correctly, and how many haven't.

K thanks Craig, actually was using the Rockabilly one in this case, it gave me the vibrato sound I liked,  but could probably get close with Sonitus modulator or other vibrato FX's. I updated to 2017.10 from 06, to see if it resolved  issues I was having seeing Izotope O8N2 as VST3 plugins. which it didn't, but resolved else-wise.  Anyway last attempt the TH3 amp was working in FX chain so I could bounce track make edits and export mix to master file, LOL. Oh meant to ask if I got TH3 full would it resolve this issue? and/or would it cause TH2 issue?

I didn't even know I had TH3 until today, I don't remember it being an add-on from Command Cntr. Anyway it's there and it opens and looks as if it should work but it doesn't make a sound. I added it as an AUX track and plugged my guitar straight into Duo Capture, but I got nothing. I know Sonar Platinum includes some stripped down versions of rather expensive plug-ins but this won't do anything. I don't get it, why bother.

Make sure that input echo is on.

Just insert a regular audio track, insert TH3, make sure your input is set up from your audio device and make sure Input Echo is depressed for that track.

DOH !  I've just got old fart's disease I guess, that was too easy. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Works great.
Even though I use my Mesa Boogie 50 watt combo with DI, which sounds awesome, it was nice to be able to try out a plexi and 412 cab. Great for the blues. I think this is going to be a lot of fun. My thanks to Sonar for including it in the 2017 update, I'm assuming that was when it was installed which is how it got past me. Anyway, I appreciate the help.
    These forums are really nice.

Was there ever any good resolution to this? I am experiencing the same thing after I updated to latest version of SPLAT. For me I will open a project with TH3 and it will crash. After a reboot I am usually (but not every time) am then able to open the project without the crash. thanks -Jim

Sorry, I have no idea. I was really dependent on the CA-X amps. Probably my best shot is trying to reproduce those sounds either with TH3 full, or expand on them with the Line 6 Helix Native plug-in (which I really, really like).

Sorry I'm not sure if I resolved my TH3 issue fully I remember it was intermittent, I didn't have the patience to play with it more, I just removed the the CAX TH3 amp (Rockabilly) from FX and used the old reliable Sonitus Modulator for vibrato FX I was looking for. Otherwise with current Cakewalk/Sonar situation Im a bit leery to start rolling back and forth between Sonar release versions, which was one suggested resolution.

Otherwise I hear ya, since I got my Mesa Boogie and Mesa Cab Clone box, Ive pretty much even abandoned mic on amp for recording the pure sound is so sweet (has vintage cabinet setting also) even my peddle board doesn't get much use since MB, so no need for guitar amp sims, perhaps on bass, and I add special FX after in mix if needed.

    Cheers
