Inputting midi notes using midi controller keyboard (NI KK S49)

I'm just coming back to Platinum after a couple of years away and I can't remember how to do the most basic things!

Is there a way to edit the notes in a pattern by selecting the first note then playing notes on my midi keyboard to change the value of the note and have it skip to the next note, change that note, and so on?
For example, I have a pattern that is correct but I want to change the notes around without editing them with a mouse in piano roll.
This used to be a doddle in Cubase back in the day...

Thanks for any help
