Hi. I just wrote a longer post, that disappeared. I suggest USB, due to compatibility.
It depends on your budget, and needs. Do you need to record more that yourself?
I have one Audio Interface for my laptop, and one for my studio.
    On my laptop: Focusrite Solo
    In my studio: RME Ucx
    Different price and uses.
I have had no issues with neither of them.
    Hope it helps.
    All the best.

Focusrite is a good choice, as is the Behringer U-Phoria series.

You can save a lot of money, going for used products.
I would look at Focusrite or Tascam instead.
I had some driver issues with my old M-Audio card, but that was years ago.

That is correct. You could go for the Focusrite 2i2 if you need more than one preamp.

    No problems, Martin.
You can start searching here, if  interested in the 2i2.
    http://www.ebay.com/bhp/focusrite-scarlett-2i2
Edit: This was default search result. If you choose used, they are cheaper.
