[Solved] Effects rack keep getting bypassed.

Yet another, "what the hell am I doing wrong?" post. Every so often all my effects racks get disabled. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. I don't have any keys assigned to it. I do have the mix module open in my tool bar but don't how I could be hitting it accidentally without hitting all the other buttons. Same with the context menu in the racks themselves. Any ideas? Am I subconsciously sabotaging myself? Sunspots? Gremlins?

I don't have any keys assigned to it.

Does this mean the bypass FX default shortcut "E" is set to do nothing or otherwise reassigned?

Ah ha! That is the problem, but why doesn't it show up as a connected to E when I search for Bypass All Audio Effects? It also wont let me unbind it, though I can bind the key to something else.

Thanks, at least I know I'm not going crazy.

    load a project
    open the keyboard shortcut preferences
scroll to E or use the locate key function
the default key binding should show below like the image below

    E stands for “Evil shortcut”

It’s situated right next to the frequently used W/rewind shortcut, and I lost count of how many times I accidentally pressed E instead. Followed by frantic adjustments to various FX settings to try and recover my mix, to no avail. And then that moment of “doh”.

I disabled the E shortcut. I actually enjoyed doing so, as if I were exacting some sort of revenge.

    E stands for “Evil shortcut“.

Yep. This is a (thankfully) rare display of complete disregard for human factors by the bakers. The letters w and r are probably among the most heavily used keyboard shortcut keys in the entire program. And they saw fit to take the letter which sits right in between them and bind it to something that is both rarely used and in many cases difficult to notice immediately once its been tripped.
